Russian flags are raised over Velikaya Novoselka
While the Russian army is celebrating another strategic victory, Kyiv is still fighting in Velikaya Novoselovka but only in its reports. The Ukrainian military is yet to acknowledge its defeat and loss of another fortress in the Southern Donbass.
According to the representative of the Ukrainian Khortytsia group of forces, which was responsible for defense of Velikaya Novoselovka, Ukrainian forces were allegedly timely withdrawn from the southern part and avoided encirclement. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are allegedly still holding control of their military positions in the northern part of the town, somewhere ‘closer to the outskirts’. Denying the harsh reality, Zelensky already replaced the commander of the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Command, whose area of responsibility includes the Southern Donbass. The leader of the Kyiv regime explained his decision by the “difficult situation” on the front line.
Ukrainians no longer believe Kyiv’s lies. The truth is too hard to hide. Russian soldiers are celebrating their victory with fireworks in the center of the town.
After the Ukrainian garrison was surrounded in Velikaya Novoselka, the Russian military gave the doomed enemy to lay down weapons and surrender. Some Ukrainian soldiers saved their lives. Safe and sound they are greeting Russians for their survival, blaming Ukrainian command that abandoned them in the cauldron for defeat.
Unfortunately, a lot of Ukrainian soldiers followed the criminal orders of their officers, who in their turn are hiding far away in the rear areas, and did not surrender. The remnants of the Ukrainian grouping were eliminated. In two days, the mop up operation was completed and the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the full control of the settlement.
After the Russian army took control of all villages around Velikaya Novoselka, Ukrainian military command attempted to evacuate the elite 1st Presidential Brigade from the cauldron. The 110th Infantry Brigade, which mainly consisted of the so-called ‘volunteers’ recently captured on the streets, was abandoned and ordered to resist. Some groups of Ukrainian soldiers also tried to escape. Finally, there was no safe evacuation possible. The only way out from the surrounded town laid across the river and through flooded fields under Russian fire control. Ukrainian soldiers used rafts, rope crossings and even attempted to ford the river. As a result, the Ukrainian garrison also suffered heavy losses on the outskirts of Velikaya Novoselka. According to some preliminary estimations, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost about 500 soldiers killed in the northeastern part of the town alone.
Control of Velikaya Novoselka will boost Russian offensive. This town was a strategically important hub of the entire defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As an important logistics hub it linked Ukrainian strongholds on the outskirts of Pokrovsk and the border of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions. As a result of the Russian victory, the entire defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Southern Donbass is threatened with collapse.
