Kyrgyzstan is going to become the first CSTO country to purchase Turkish Bayraktar TB2 attack UAVs.
Following the recent clashes on the border with Tajikistan, as a result of which 36 people from the Kyrgyz side were killed, Bishkek realized the necessity of its military reinforcement.
On October 23, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov claimed that his country will purchase UAVs from both Turkey and Russia. Bishkek will buy Russian Orlan 10E reconnaissance drones and Turkish Bayraktar TB2 attack drones.
“We did not have a single aircraft that could be lifted into the air during the conflict. Now we will buy both an airplane and a UAV. We will pay for these purchases from the budget,” the Kyrgyz president claimed.
It was clarified that the drones were ordered in order to ensure the security of the country. Kyrgyz servicemen are already training in Turkey.
However, there has been no official claims about the contracts signed for either Russian or Turkish UAVs’ purchase. The exact number of UAVs was also not revealed.
The Bayraktar TB2, which was developed by Turkey’s Baykar, gained much fame last year after taking part in several Turkish-backed operations in Syria and Libya. The combat drone also played a key role in Azerbaijan’s victory in the last Nagorno-Karabakh war.
Albania is of the latest customers interested in striking a deal to procure this combat drone, which is already owned by Azerbaijan, Qatar, Ukraine and will be delivered to Poland under a recently inked deal.
Most recently, in late September, the Turkmenistan’s military revealed that it also has Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 combat drones in service.

Russia doesn’t have any functioning drones to sell so they will go with whats proven.
