Large Explosion Rocks Key City On Syrian-Turkish Border (Video)

On September 1, a booby-trapped car exploded near a protest tent in the Syrian city of Azaz near the border with Turkey, according to the Syrian news outlet Enab Baladi. The strategic city has been under the control of the Turkish-backed Euphrates Shield (ES) force since late 2016.

The pro-opposition news outlet said that dozens of civilians were protesting inside the tent against the local council of Azaz, which is accused of corruption and mismanagement.

According to local sources, only two civilians were killed in the explosion. However, the death toll is expected to raise in the upcoming hours as dozens of civilians were severely wounded.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but Syrian opposition activists believe that cells of ISIS or the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) may be behind it.

The new attack is another example for the deteriorating security situation in the ES-held areas in northern Syria. These areas have witness dozens of attacks since it was captured by Turkish-backed forces two years ago. However, Turkey is yet to do anything to improve the security situation there.

why you think that? and what they win by doing this?

Rob

This explosion has not done by neither ISIS, nor Kurdish nor Turkish nor Syrian. This has only done by Benjanyahu regime.

Rob

US and UK both regimes want to divide Syria by their conspiracy plot. This will never happen. These both are dirty tumors on this planet earth. Their dirty dark history will never vanish.

This article is poor quality.

Why would the YPG (or ISIS) target protesters of Turkish backed council? I also doubt US/Israel behind this – they would more likely be funding protesters to create divisions. So who would gain by this? The article discussion should be going in this direction…

Obviously the corrupt looters of the Ottoman backed Azaz Council are the party that benefits from their detractors being blasted. As SF points out though, it may well have been Amish farmers irate about milk prices. :D
