Hotel destroyed in Kiev
On the afternoon of December 31, an air alert sounded throughout Ukraine, including in the capital.
The head of the Kiev regional administration Alexey Kuleba reported on the work of air defense in the region but did not reveal the targets of Russian strikes.
According to the deputy head of the office of the President Kirill Tymoshenko, seven air targets were intercepted near Kiev. However, claims of Ukrainian officials are often exaggerated.

Another target of the Russian attack was a facility in the courtyard of the Institute of Biology and Medicine of Kiev National University named after Taras Shevchenko in the south of Kiev. Some reports supposed that the Ukrainian air defense system was deployed in the area.
The third target of Russian strikes was the Kiev CHP-5 which is constantly targeted by Russian forces. The attack resulted in cut of electricity supplies in the capital.
As a result of the attack, 30% of residents remain without electricity on the New Year eve.

Kiev was not the only city targeted by Russian missiles. The deputy head of the office of the President, Kirill Tymoshenko, reported Russian strikes in Zaporozhye and Khmelnitsky.

According to the head of the Nikolaev region six people were wounded as a result of the explosion, three were hospitalized.
Ukrainian air defense systems were active in the Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia and Ternopil regions.
