Lavrov: Poor Humanitarian Situation In Syria's Rukban Refugee Camp Is Result Of US Actions

On May 3, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a press conference that the US-led coalition had failed to provide the needed security guarantees for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Rukban refugee camp on the Syrian-Jordanian border.

“As far as the Rukban refugee camp is concerned from the standpoint of delivering humanitarian aid there, the Americans have long refused to open it to humanitarian convoys on the pretext the Syrian government allegedly refuses to give its consent,” the Russian news agency TASS quoted Lavrov as saying during the press conference.

According to the Russian foreign minister, the Damascus government and the humanitarian organizations have resolved all the issues related to the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Rukban camp. However, the US-led coalition is yet to allow the aid to enter.

Lavrov added that the US-led coalition is still active in the al-Tanaf base, near the Rukban camp, and revealed that the coalition is still training militants there despite the ceasefire agreement.

“And in this area, where Americans have unilaterally declared their territory around the al-Tanf and the Rukban refugee camps, very strange things are happening, including the training of militants, which is being conducted in order for them to continue fighting despite the ceasefire agreements fire,” Lavrov said during the press conference, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik.

Many pro-government activists have repeatedly questioned the situation in the Rukban camp, especially that UN can easily send its aid through the open Jordanian border. The US-led coalition units in the al-Tanaf base move through the same border freely on a daily basis, according to the activists.

Is Putin capitulating? Pro US Alexei Kudrin could join new government to negotiate “end of sanctions” with the West.

Former finance minister Alexei Kudrin will be brought back to “mend fences with the West” in order to revive Russia’s economy. Kudrin has repeatedly said that unless Russia makes her political system more democratic and ends its confrontation with Europe and the United States, she will not be able to achieve economic growth. Russia’s fifth-columnists were exalted: “If Kudrin joined the administration or government, it would indicate that they have agreed on a certain agenda of change, including in foreign policy, because without change in foreign policy, reforms are simply impossible in Russia,” said Yevgeny Gontmakher . . . who works with a civil society organization set up by Mr. Kudrin. “It would be a powerful message, because Kudrin is the only one in the top echelons with whom they will talk in the west and towards whom there is a certain trust.”

Putting Kudrin — an opponent of de – dollarization and an upholder of the Washington Consensus — in charge of Russia’s international outreach would be equal to putting Bill Clinton in charge of a girls’ school. It would mark Putin’s de facto collapse as a leader. We shall know very soon. Either way, if anyone wondered what the approach to Russia would be from Bolton and Pompeo, we now know: they will play very hard ball with Putin, regardless of what he does (or doesn’t do), and with carefree readiness to risk an eventual snap.

No way the americans are non agreement capable, you would get better results negotiating with a bag of door knobs then with those misguided fools.

what did you await? russia is economically dwarf, extremly weak and vulnerable. the sanctions ruin it. there is no reserve to mekae reforms, for progress. putin again decreased the military budget. russia is at wall. the military industry will not make prosperous country from russia. kudrin is a clever guy. he was always putins good friend. i was surprize, why did not use his knowledges already 2 years ago?

The nation with the enormous debt is in reality, the economic dwarf. If sanctions have been so successful, why does the US have to keep inventing reasons to illegally levy more sanctions? The U.N. Is the only body that can legally levy sanctions. You may have noticed The U.N. Is not sanctioning anyone. The economies that the US is destroying are EU members. EU nations shoot themselves in the foot every time they knuckle under to Uncle Sam.

How much do they pay you to copy/paste?

Smaug

Why does South Front spill out the unfiltered rhetoric from the Russian foreign ministry? Of course these bozos accuse the US of being the source of all world problems, they benefit directly from people believing that is so. All Lavrov is doing is cementing existing divides by his blatant propaganda campaign.

DidierF

Is your text inclusive or divisive ? I vote for divisive. Why are the humanitarian convoys not allowed to go there ? Something to hide ?

Smaug

You wish.
