The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to crackdown on current and would-be immigrants, who are likely to require public assistance, the Washington Post newspaper reported, citing a leaked document.

Reportedly, according to a draft executive order, obtained by the newspaper, the Trump’s administration considers a plan to weed out would-be immigrants, who are likely to require public assistance, as well as when it is possible, to deport those immigrants, who are already living in the US and are depended by taxpayers’ help.

A second draft order, which is currently under consideration, offers a substantial shake up in the system, which is used by the US to administer immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, in order to tightly control who enters the country’s territory and who can enter the workforce, as well as to reduce the burden on US taxpayers.

The new drafts of orders are focused on Trump’s promises to protect American workers and to create jobs, restricting the flow of immigrants and temporary laborers into the US labor market. According to the new US administration, immigrants receive US social services and swallow up federal resources in this way, as well as contribute to unemployment among Americans, who were born in the US, taking their worker places.

“Our country’s immigration laws are designed to protect American taxpayers and promote immigrant self sufficiency. Yet households headed by aliens are much more likely than those headed by citizens to use Federal means-tested public benefits,” the Washington Post quoted one of the draft orders, titled “Executive Order on Protecting Taxpayer Resources by Ensuring Our Immigration Laws Promote Accountability and Responsibility.”

As the newspaper noted, the Trump’s administration would be seeking to “deny admission to any alien who is likely to become a public charge,” as well as to develop standards for “determining” whether an immigrant can be deported after five years if this person gets a certain amount of public assistance, including Food Stamps, Medicaid and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

The second order, titled “Executive Order on Protecting American Jobs and Workers by Strengthening the Integrity of Foreign Worker Visa Programs,” calls for “eliminating” of the “jobs magnet” for illegal immigrants in the US. According to the order, any work visa provisions for foreign nationals, which do not correspond “the national interest” or violate US immigration laws, will be rescinded.

“The unlawful employment of aliens has had a devastating impact on the wages and jobs of American workers, especially low-skilled, teenage, and African American and Hispanic workers,” the draft order reads.

Reportedly, the drafts circulate among US administration’s officials, and it is still unclear whether Trump has decided to move forward with them and when he is going to sign them. Meanwhile, the White House has not confirmed or denied the authenticity of the orders, as well as did not respond to requests for comment about the drafts.
