The Leopard 1 is a German main battle tank that was originally designed and produced by Porsche in West Germany and entered service in 1965. As of now, modernized Leopard 1 MBTs still remain in service in some countries around the world.

Well it is called a MG-3 now but it is copied after the MG-42 but the rate of fire is lower around 900RPM then the 1200 it had during WW2!
But why, it was too expensive? :(
It was the plan to use many more of them all over. But it was to expensive in bullets.
So it was used under their hard attacks and defences only.
A funny thing for Denmark was that those used here were produced in Spandau in Berlin( ælater on known for its jail). But that was a name of respect because some of our best cakes made here was already named Spandauer.

There was no need for the high firing speed and the ammunition was also to be carried on the battlefield.

Is the return spring in the bolt that determines the firing speed. It can be replaced and it then shoots 1200 RPM
wonder if it’s as useless as the tiger was during ww2 – minus 10 dgrs and no life in the engine – the tiger was so sophisticated that when it was ready to use the russian t-34 had shot it to pieces. but as with german cars – bmw, mercedes, audis and porches and so on – the world is infatuated with what they make in germany and pay far too much for what they get.

Tiger tanks were good and over engineered, however they were deadly, it could kill tanks from 2000 meters. Being heavy they did not do well in the mud It was difficult to operate when mud, ice, and snow froze between its overlapping and interleaved Schachtellaufwerk-pattern road wheels, often jamming them solid.
While it could compete with T54/55, comparatively with the T62 it was under gunned, and especially under armored, even if later upgrades somewhat bettered the protection. Not to mention the T64… To little, too late. Gone was the superiority of german armor from the second half of ww2.

A fantastic tank. Just look at the success it made in Syria in behalf of Turkey. It was unstoppable and one of the utmost military victories in modern history.

This is a 10mm pistol hardcast lead ballistic gel penetration test. That shows approximately 3 feet of penetration. Before hitting a wood backstop. These rounds can penetrate up to 5 feet of gel or tissue. Not counting bone.

This is a hard barrier hardcast lead barrier penetration test showing 10mm auto penetrating 9 inches of wood. Which is roughly equivalent to bone. This should provide a credible deterrent to aggressive bigfoots and other large non conventional lifeforms at close range. I’m planning to pick up some handgun and long gun tracer rounds for warning shot and targeting use.
