The LGM-30 Minuteman is a land-based intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) developed in the United States. As of 2020, the LGM-30G Minuteman III version is the only land-based ICBM in service with the United States Armed Forces.

US obsolete technology. Russian R36M Voevoda was introduced later than this Minuteman III and is already being replaced by Sarmat. Soon US will have no modern silo based ICBM.

omrizkiblog

Yes it is obsolete but still powerfully deadly, at least USRAELofA still have 400 of these ICBMs in service. If they all got in the air, even with lack of accuracy, that would be end of mankind right away. Unless somehow, someone hacked into the system and make it unable to launch missiles or the other way around. Thx.

Nosferatu

Well i am not saying it is not deadly. I am just curious when will it start to be more dangerous for its operator than for its intended target.

omrizkiblog

Haha, that’s funny tho. Well, if we talk about it more seriously, we assume that the rocket engine quality is in good condition, it should not be that hard to get it on the air, but of course there is set of protocol that must be followed. We can pretty much assume in case of real war, there will be good generals or soldiers who sane enough to refuse to launch the nukes or following order from high command as in time of Cuban missile crisis.

Nosferatu

Its dificult for me to answer this as i have not served in ICBM unit. But any militatry equipement will reach its end of service life or reach conditions not suitable for any longer service if its old enough even with proper maintanace. And i dont see US army actualy runing a program to replace these misiles. If US army will still use minutemans III in times when Russia will be using S700 systems, we can assume US ICBMs will no longer serve its purpose of preventing Russian strike by guaranting retaliation capability.

omrizkiblog

Yes, you’re observation is correct. Some systems could get broken by the time, as with these minuteman. And as the Russian develop their more advanced ABM and EW-tech. these missiles are good for show off only. However I’m sure the Russian side already have strategies to counter US nukes strikes, and like I said, I’m more keen to believe there are good generals & soldiers who sane enough not to execute order to plunge the world into its end.

Nosferatu

I also believe that there are soldiers and generals who would refuse to lanch first strike. However their dark masters know this and they would probably make them launch it by telling them that Russia already launched first.

omrizkiblog

Yes, it could happen too. Even the system could get sabotaged and have back-door on its software. Idk much about this minuteman, although we know they got independent and also integrated command center. Again, maybe the operator simply could just “shut the power down” to prevent any stupid accident.

Jake321

False hope. If there is a war that calls for nukes, it’s all over for everyone.

Jake321

Never. Next silly comment.

Nosferatu

So you yourself brought no point to the discussion, just calling my point silly. Now that is real silly.

Jake321

So, guess they will have flatten Russia a thousand times over with their sub based missiles, etc., if need be. So, what’s your stupid point? But great Putz Putin wants to bankrupt the RF in a new arms race with the US. His old Soviet butt buddies await him in the dustbin of history.

TORKI OP #8 STRONK

Just as Russian Nuclear subs would flatten US a thousand times over using their Bulava missiles. Russia and USA both have nuclear armed subs patrolling the atlantic/pacific oceans less than 150km from eachothers shores at all times. Are you mad?

Jake321

That was my point. Those who make comparisons between nuclear missiles and weapons are mad. The only important point is that the US can afford a new arms race and Putz Putin’s RF cannot. The more he tries to recreate the Soviet Russian Empire, the sooner he joins them in the dustbin of history. And without one nuke being used.

TORKI OP #8 STRONK

That’s what people have been saying since 1991, yet Russia has rebuilt its military both conventionally and nuclear wise.

Russia can very much afford, as it has 3rd largest Gold Reserves, 1st Largest Natural Gas Reserves, and 5th Top Oil reserves on the planet. It continues to trade with China, India, Turkey, and Iran even with sanctions. You cannot sanction a nuclear power, it has no effect.

Jesus

Keep on dreaming, US brain dead MIC cannot produce anything viable in spite of hundreds of billions pumped into it for the last 3 decades. US already lost the arms of Cold War 2. Russia with a defense budget much smaller then the US, modernized its conventional and nuclear forces, while US has not developed anything new….except the art of lying.

Zionist Internet Warrior

I think the whole point of new ICBM for Russia is to be able to successfully evade ABM interception, since both side will have nuclear sub destroy each other first before land based ICBM are ever used. That’s why Avengard was made, and RS-28 Sarmat for ABM evasion and for larger payloads than older ICBM. Otherwise they make no difference since both sides have subs which can strike eachother very fast and much sooner than the 20-30 minute wait time of ICBM.

But then again, some say nuclear subs are only to destroy military targets. Then icbm destroy civilian targets/cities.

Nosferatu

This just shows how little you really know. Russia is not participating in another arms race. Russia alredy won it. Just look at Russian advantage in technology and look at Russia vs US debt. These are not even comparable. And to think USSR lost an arms race is just pure stupidity. USSR was betrayed by its own elite, that was the real reason for its failure.

TORKI OP #8 STRONK

US ICBM are still obsolete but will be very hard to intercept nonetheless. All ICBM today are extremely difficult to intercept, and the warheads? Those are virtually 99.99% impossible to intercept.

Zionist Internet Warrior

Minuteman III is 1970 technology and Trident III is early 90’s tech, with recent navigation upgrades for improved accuracy. Meanwhile Topol, Yars, RS-28, Avengard are all late 90’s or 21st century tech. US is very far behind Russia in the ICBM field, and now recently being uprooted in Submarine field by Bulava.
