The Libyan National Army (LNA) showcased several Russian-made heavy weapon systems for the first time during a large parade that was held in its stronghold, the city of Benghazi, on May 26.

The parade was organized to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the launch of Operation Dignity to combat terrorism. It was attended by LNA Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and other senior Libyan officials, in addition to Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

In a speech delivered during the parade, Haftar affirmed that the LNA will continue its efforts to restore the Libyan state, its unity, and its prestige.

“We are proud of the victory achieved over terrorism thanks to the heroism of the armed forces and the blood of the martyrs and wounded,” he said, emphasizing that “national duty requires the army to remain on high alert to deter all threats, whether internal or external.”

The leader also pointed out that the LNA “is capable of overcoming all challenges and dangers and will have the decisive say at the appropriate moment.”

“The parade and organization we witnessed today is evidence of the stability of security throughout Libya and paves the way for the return of normal life to all cities and villages,” he added.

During the parade, the LNA presented several heavy weapons systems for the first time, all of which were of Russian origins.

Dozens of VPK-Ural and Tigr-M light armored vehicles were showcased by the military, in addition to a number of BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles armed with Kornet anti-tank guided missiles and BTR-82A amphibious armored personnel carriers upgraded with slat armor.

The military also paraded Tor-M1E short-range air defense systems, which were apparently acquired in secret. The system has a range of 12 kilometers.

Another system that made a surprise appearance at the parade was the BM-30 heavy multiple rocket launcher. The system can fire precision-guided munitions with a range of 12 kilometers.

In addition, the LNA showed for the first time a Mi-26 military heavy-lift helicopter, which can lift a maximum payload of 20,000 kg.

While Russia remains one of the key partners of the LNA, it is unclear if all of these new systems were supplied directly from Russia. The military received Russian-made systems from other allies like Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Syria – before the fall of the Assad regime -. For example, the Egyptian military is a known operator of the Tor-M1E system and the Emirati military operates the BM-30.

Libya plunged into chaos following a NATO-backed uprising that toppled and killed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The country is now split between the Government of National Unity (GNU) in the capital, Tripoli, in the west, which is supported by an array of militia groups, and a rival government based in Benghazi in the east, backed by the House of Representatives and the LNA.

The GNU faced several challenges recently, including deadly internal clashes and a wave of protests in Tripoli. Many saw these events as a chance for the LNA. The military was for sure sending a message with its latest parade. It showed a unified, organized and well-armed force in the east in contrast to a cluster of militias in the west.

Rajesh

makes one wonder what was going through their heads when they overthrew him.

Cromwell

tribalism for some and money for others, too late now they helped nato to destroy their own country which was stable and those nato thugs even bombed the fresh water river that gadaffi built to provide fresh drinking water for his people.

StrawHats

the forces that overthrew gaddafi where ironically led by libyans from benghazi who where captured in iraq posing as iraqis fighting the coalition forces. recruited and trained by the us and maybe other coalition members while captives

what we should really be asking ourselves is..

how deep do the rabbit hole really go in this conflict the iraqi war?

but that tale is for someone else to tell.

the narrative

this was cia / mossad / banker war mafia led over throw . ghadaffi was going to issue african currency currency ending colonial rule of africa . so he was disposed of and libya was destroyed .

the narrative

you mean hillary and allbright ?

protectourfreedumbs

they didn’t overthrow him, the jews and their goy stooges did. clowns like cameron, obongo and clinton. others joined in, like the frogs and the wops. sarkozy wanted to cover his tracks, because he’d taken some fat bribes off gaddafi. the wops joined in to avoid paying reparations to libya. when it was an italian colony, they genocided 50% of the population. there were concentration camps, poison gas, mosques were desecrated.

protectourfreedumbs

women were raped. the leader of “isis” in libya turned out to be an israeli mossad agent called moshe shekelburger or similar. then they stole 160 tons of libyan gold gaddafi was going to use to create a gold backed dinar currency. where it went to is one of many great unsolved mystery, like the gold from wtc7.

Cromwell

i forgot about the gold, libya was rich in gold, every country those barbarians destroy they steal the gold, they did the same in ukraine they also loot ancient artifacts that end up in the auction houses of the west, they are pure vermin.

protectourfreedumbs

they stole 80 tons of venezuela’s gold. they stole all of russia’s gold in the 1990s. who in their right mind would invest their money or keep their assets in the jewsa/ jewu/ jewk. they will steal anything. they steal houses, cars, boats, even handbags and bars of soap from russians. they stole the oil of iraq and syria. they are thieves, any absurd pretext will do.

Rajesh

even if libya is made whole again, it’ll take decades to rebuild.

Cromwell

i doubt it will be because some put tribe before unity in the country and that is what the west exploited when will they ever learn?

Emanuel, do Brasil

porque o filho de khadafi não toma o poder?

there was free health care, free education, free water and electricity under gaddafi. the lesson is clear – tool up with nukes like n. kores if you want to avoid gaddafi’s fate.

Redguard

on every september 1st, patriotic libyans still celebrate the anniversary of muammar gaddafi’s al fateh revolution. and every year more and more join in on these celebrations cause more and more wake up to the reality of things, one day they will take back their country!

Cromwell

what became of gaddafis son?

Redguard

saif al islam gaddafi is alive and free somewhere in libya… he tried to run for presidential elections in libya in 2021 and was expected to be the winner. however, usa and eu wouldn’t risk him winning so they declared they wouldn’t accept election results if his candidacy is allowed. the corrupt armed factions that control libya then used this as a great excuse to postpone elections indefinitely, they know they will not fair well in elections so to them it’s best to keep the status quo…

Redguard

as for his other children, i am not sure, haven’t kept track honestly.
