Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), expressed his personal gratitude for Russia’s efforts towards peace and stability in Libya in a letter sent to President Vladimir Putin on January 17.
According to the Kremlin Press Service, the Libyan leader accepted Putin’s invitation to Moscow to continue dialogue on settling the conflict in Libya.
“I express my full support to Russia’s initiative on peace talks in Moscow that are to bring peace to Libya. I confirm that we are ready to accept your invitation to visit Russia to continue dialogue,” the letter reads, according to the TASS news agency.
The LNA is now carrying out a large attack on the Libyan capital, Tripoli, the stronghold of the Government of National Accord (GNA), which is supported by Turkey and Qatar. The army is receiving support from Egypt and the UAE.
Haftar, who is now in Athena, is planning to visit Moscow after the Berlin conference on the Libyan conflict settlement, as a Libyan diplomat told TASS a day earlier.
The Kremlin announced that the Russian President will take part in the Berlin conference, which is set to take place on January 19. Eleven countries were invited to the conference, including the UAE, Egypt, the U.S. and Turkey.
The conference is aimed at establishing a stable ceasefire in Libya, achieving a reconciliation between the warring sides and launching a serious political dialogue in Libya.
Haftar’s possible visit to Moscow after the conference will contribute to Russian diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful solution for the Libyan crisis.
He is expecting invitation from Russian president? Not even Russian foreign minister ..
Time for the US Military to invade Libya and set up bases to prevent the Turks or Russians from taking over permanently
Time for the IDF to step on a few landmines, you included, Avi.
Excellent idea …. grease the skids and get the fall over with fast and on to the recovery.
Start agitating for the USA to take on Venezuela, North Korea, iran/Iraq/Syria/Lebanon all at the same time as well. May as well go down in a blaze of glory.
Btw the Russians aren’t there to get the gas …. they’re playing both sides against the middle to prevent development of the gas field so they can have a monopoly on gas sales to Europe. They just have to stall gas development until Turk stream and Nord Stream II are operational. A US invasion and forever war would suit them fine.
Spoken like a true terrorist / Jew , same shit ;}
my full support for haftar against torki rats
There are no good guys in Libya, just rats of different hues. It is all about how the rats and their pipers carve up the country’s oil and gas. Turkey is more desperate than the others due to a more energy vulnerable economy facing massive unemployment and internal problems. This is the new US and NATO promoted era of complete thuggery and law of the jungle.
ive been wondering why a huge war has not broken out yet, from all this thuggery and jungle action, and then i realized i think everyone is too scared, too afraid that if they go to war they may lose everything in the process or not live to see the aftermath, what happened to the old days when wars were fought and problems were solved and history was made and written?
In the old days, weapons were not as destructive compared today. Also, the people back then were able to survive in rustic conditions, unlike the pampered people of today.
yes people are alot more pampered today, and who cares if they are more destructive today, almost every country that is being threatened has the same weapons, if not they can get them from someone im sure
