The Libyan Air Force (LAF) has gained full aerial superiority over the western part of the country including the capital, Tripoli, a spokesman for the Libyan National Army (LNA), Gen. Ahmed al-Mismari, claimed during a press conference on August 1.
The spokesman said that the LAF is currently conducting day and night airstrikes deep within Government of National Accord (GNA) territory and providing close air support for LNA troops on all frontlines.
“The entire western region is now under aerial surveillance, a theater of operations for the fight against terrorism and militias, and the air force is now imposing air control over the entire western region,” Libya channel quoted Gen. al-Mismari as saying.
The LAF controls several airbases in eastern Libya and operates dozens of warplanes of different types. Unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) of the UAE Air Force (UAEAF) are also believed to be supporting the LAF’s operations over western Libya.
Despite these resources, Gen. al-Mismari’s claims of gaining full aerial superiority remain unrealistic. GNA warplanes and Turkish UCAVs were able to hit several targets deep inside LNA territory over the last few months.
VERY NICE!!!!
GNA is in real accord with LNA. What a bloody accord meetings they have. Sad….
