On May 28, Libyan sources released a photo showing a soldier of the Libyan National Army (LNA) armed with an advanced RPG-32 anti-tank weapon.

Russia’s Bazalt designed and developed the RPG-32 between 2005 and 2012. The weapon is also assembled in Jordan from Russian-made kits under the name “Nashshab”. This may explain how the LNA has received it.
The RPG-32 can be armed with the PG-32V tandem high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) round that can penetrate 650 mm of rolled homogeneous armor (RHA), or with the TBG-32V thermobaric round for use against the enemy’s infantry and fortifications. Both rounds have a maximum range of 700m.
While the anti-tank weapon is not guided, it can be equipped with a variety of sights for day and night missions and even with a laser-range finder.

The LNA’s Arab backers likely hope the they could counter the growing support of Turkey for the Government of National Accord (GNA) by supplying such advanced weapons.
