LNA Shot Down Its Own Mirage F1 Warplane Two Days Ago

The Libyan National Army (LNA) may have shot down its own Mirage F1-ED warplane over the Jufra airbase two days ago.

Several analysts, including Iranian defense analyst Babak Taghvaee, revealed on April 25 that the downed warplane was of the Mirage F1-ED type and not of the Mirage F1-AD type used by forces loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA).

A close examination of the warplane’s wreckage photos also show that the tail section has a special logo, that’s only found on the LAF’s Mirage F1-ED warplane.

The LNA had claimed that its air defense force shot down a Mirage warplane of the GNA air force while it was trying to carry out an airstrike on the Jufra airbase in central Libya.

It remains unclear if the warplane was indeed shot down by the LNA air defense force, or if it suffered from a technical failure while trying to repel the GNA’s aerial attack on the Jufra airbase.
