On April 18, locals blocked a convoy of U.S. forces in the countryside of the city of al-Qamishli in northern al-Hasakah, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
“The residents of Qamishli countryside’s villages confronted four armored vehicles belonging to American occupation forces, which came from the village of Abu Qasayeb in Tell Hamis district in Qamishli countryside, and forced them to retreat,” the agency’s reporter in al-Hasakah said.
According to the state-run agency, warplanes of the U.S.-led coalition carried out sorties over al-Qamishli’s countryside..
This was the second such incident this week. On April 16, locals blocked a U.S. convoy near the towns of Abu Qasayeb and al-Rahayah al-Sawda in northern al-Hasakah.
Around 500 U.S. service members are currently deployed near oil fields in al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor, supposedly to “guard” them from ISIS.
Locals have managed to restrict U.S. forces’ movement in northern al-Hasakah, apparently with support from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). However, U.S. forces are still moving freely in Deir Ezzor, where they held live-fire drills earlier this week.
