Carrier strike group (CSG) is an operational formation of the United States Navy. It is centered on an aircraft carrier and a carrier air wing of 65 to 70 aircrafts. It’s composed of roughly 7,500 personnel, an aircraft carrier, at least one cruiser, a destroyer squadron of at least two destroyers and/or frigates. A carrier strike group also, on occasion, includes submarines, attached logistics ships and a supply ship. No need to sink them. They are already museum pieces.
Nobody notices that this fleet is not even floatable. Even if some of those old rusty bathtubs are actually floatble – they do not have any sailors or specialists to operate them.
How do you know this? do you also have family who works on those dinosaurs?
Interesting how most are at home ports and have been for a while now. Not exactly how one ‘projects power and jnfluence’ over the world. Maybe some people actually realize that carriergroups now are outdated. The loss of such a group, or even just the carrier, because of a strike with a supersonic missile, or due to their defence being overwhelmed by a swarm of drones, is too great to be acceptable but cannot be prevented in a real conflict situation. Or the planes are having too many issues. It took over 10 years, but finally it was admitted that the F35 is too expensive and underperforms and still has way too many major problems. But the older generation planes are nearing the end of use.
The next pirate fleet will be of inner tubes towed by minnows manned by midgets with BB guns and paper planes to project the strength of an impoverished and forgotten empire.
