Maduro Closes Brazillian Border As Guaido Signs 'Presidential Decree' To Allow U.S. Aid In

On February 21st, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced that the country’s border with Brazil would be closed “until further notice.”

In the televised address he said that he was also considering a “total closure of the border with Colombia” ahead of the deadline given by US-proclaimed Interim President Juan Guaido – February 23rd.

Maduro called the aid a “provocation” and “child’s game”, suggesting the aid is a precursor for a US military intervention.

“[The US] aimed to generate a huge national mess, but they didn’t succeed. The country wants peace,” he said.

In the address, Maduro was surrounded by military officials who once more reiterated their support for him and rejected Guaido’s calls to join the opposition.

On the previous day, the Venezuelan military announced it was also banning vessels from sailing out of Venezuela’s ports until Sunday to avoid actions by “criminal” groups.

Maduro also reiterated the country’s decision to suspend all communications with Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire. “We want the best relations but with respect!” he tweeted.

Late on February 21st, Juan Guaido signed a Presidential Decree authorizing the entry of humanitarian aid, the opening of all borders, as well as the continuation of relations with Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire. He also guaranteed and recognized all members of the Venezuelan military who complied with his US-proclaimed Interim Presidential mandate and the Constitution.

Regardless of the closure Brazilian presidential spokesman Otavio Rego Barros said his country was going ahead humanitarian aid airlifts for Venezuela despite Maduro’s announcement. The non-perishable food and medicine would be stockpiled in the Brazilian border town of Pacaraima until Guaido was able to send trucks to pick them up and get them into the country.

On February 20th, US National Security Adviser John Bolton said that Venezuelan military should let “peaceful civilians at the Colombian and Brazilian borders” to “peacefully bring in humanitarian aid”, warning that any infractions “will not be forgotten.”

On the side of the Maduro government’s aid efforts, Food Minister Luis Medina Ramirez said on Twitter that 20,600 boxes of food from the government’s long-running subsidised food distribution programme left for the Colombian border area from the port of La Guaira. There will also be a concert on February 22nd and 23rd aimed at telling Trump “to keep his hands off” Venezuela.

On February 25th, US Vice President Mike Pence will travel to Colombia to demand Maduro resigns and allow the US-recognized Guaido to assume power.

Pence will be in Colombia to “voice the United States’s unwavering support for interim President Juan Guaidó and highlight the Venezuelan people’s fight for democracy over dictatorship.”

Finally, Venezuela’s ex-Intelligence Chief and “one of the government’s most prominent figures” recognized Guaido as the legitimate holder of power in Venezuela.

In a series of videos posted on Twitter, Hugo Carvajal he announced his support for Juan Guaido and asked the military generals how they could be so “inhuman” as to block the entry of humanitarian aid. He also addressed the Venezuelan people, speaking as a member of the National Assembly, but also as a soldier.

Promitheas Apollonious

I think is time a man as you and an obvious leader, that has all the answers, you should go over there open their eyes and lead them into victory.

Tudor Miron

Problem is that his kind prefer to lead from behind.

You can call me Al

He / she / it is a funny fucker to look at.

His kind always prefer the arse end of anything :)

Sinbad2

I want to rule Australia, can I just declare I’m Prime Minister, is that how it works now? Much easier than elections, Hillary Clinton should declare herself Queen of America.

You can call me Al

No, that is silly. I need to put you forward and announce it first.

“People of the World, I don’t like like the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, because he is a Chinese / Russian / American / British / Iranian / Indian (Please select 1) stooge and a commie / socialist / capitalist / fascist (please select 1), therefore as of today, Sinbad 2 is the new Prime Minister of Australia”….

…… Bloody hell, look at the crowds on the streets already !!

You deserve to be a President Al. What sort of climate would you like ? Would you like a maritime country of something inland ?

If you do not like the current citizens , I am sure some replacements can be found.

You can call me Al

Fuck that, not me, well not on Friday night-> Sunday afternoon….. well actually, in hindsight and thinking about Junker, that’ll work.

Nice warm climate please, yes I think a maritime Country would be pleasant – thank you for asking. Women that can cook, (drop dead gorgeous is a “nice to have”, but not mandatory), a few pubs and eateries (Spanish, Italian and English food served) + the best white wine from all 3 nations.

With my capabilities as an Armchair battle hardened warrior, a small army of about 100 would be enough to protect 10,000 citizens.

STOP – STOP – STOP …… I was really getting into that, until the wife stopped me from trying to throw her out.

FlorianGeyer

Would Andora be acceptable ?

Climates good and a suitable site for a new palace with a sea view could easily be obtained by resettling the present inhabitants in an underground servants facility. Rather like a rather posh villa in Italy during the Roman period. Many hundreds of servants toiled in the tunnels, some of which were roadways for many kilometres. Its not nice to have trades people spoiling the view.

I will call Trump and Theresa tomorrow, to nominate you if you agree :) If you find oil though, it belongs to the US. Less a fee for the President naturally.

You can call me Al

Thanks for all your help and support. When I am elected, I shall look after the people like all European Presidents / Prime Ministers….

FlorianGeyer

How many rooms do you require in your 21st century palace my lord ?

You can call me Al

Are you and your clan popping over for a weekend ?……. the me, my 18 kids and your lot.

FlorianGeyer

It depends when. The Spring and Summer are always hectic for me, Al

You can call me Al

No worries. I shall have plenty of European bronzed women to entertain me.

FlorianGeyer

Take heed of some very sage advice I was given a few decades ago. ‘Better to Borrow than to Own ‘ :)

You can call me Al

God bless those words.

You can call me Al

PS Have a good weekend.

FlorianGeyer

And you as well.

jm74

Guaido needs to be publically apprehended, charged for sedition, treason and an open court to the public.

Redadmiral

Do onto him as was done onto Colonel Muammar Gaddafi

Raptar Driver

He is protected by CIA or whatever they call themselves.

Rob

GUAIDO really cucked.

A few American Warmongers along with some European and Canadian Toadies recognize Guaido as (unelected) ‘President’ of the sovereign Country of Venezuela. Guaido had an opportunity to run for President of Venezuela but knew he would lose in a system that is recognized as one of the most open systems in the world. Bernie Sanders indicates he does not recognize Guaido as ‘president’ and calls for free open election. The legitimate President, Maduro, has indicated he would consider a new election. In Venezuela every citizen, of voting age, is eligible to vote. No gerrymandering, no vote stealing, no voter purge list, no collecting your absentee ballot(s) and burning them as in North Carolina USA.

So what is the problem? A recent poll among citizens Venezuela indicates 81% of them never heard of Guaido until he was appointed ‘President’ by Trump. When you know you will lose by a 4-1+ margin it is much better to get appointed by Trump than face the voters. When everything else fails, including starving them out Albright Style, shoot them. F… elections. Don’t you just love ‘Democracy’ American Style?

Lazy Gamer

I can see it now, msm will spin it to “maduro is starving his people” lol. US cant afford another hardened enemy like Cuba in its backyard so conflict might be an inevitable conclusion.

verner

a charade and nothing else- not even moronistan (aka usa) believe there is life in the coup no more so just flogging a dead body a la great britain traditions.

You can call me Al

++ 15,000 Cubans are already in Caracas, as a Presidential guard. Add that to your comment / view.

Tommy Jensen

Cubans, Hezbollah, N. Korean, Iranian “advisors”, whatever you call them.

FlorianGeyer

I would call them the Resistance against the US Coalition of Terror and Theft.

FlorianGeyer

Another aspect is that the minority Ethnic Spanish population of Venezuela are the wealthiest group in the country.

Wealth = possessions, houses, fancy cars etc. So they will fear losing those possessions in any US inspired fake civil war. The Spanish minority really should educate themselves as to the realities, rather than accept the US Hollywood version.

There are a plethora of US ravaged countries to see the appalling realities of US intervention. I am sure that most of the ethnic Spanish are decent people. It ts time for them to wake up and to consider what they WILL lose if real fighting breaks out.

You can call me Al

Now, that is a good point.

FlorianGeyer

Thanks Al.

Whats wrong with USA´s humanitarian aid for freedom? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/de345ef7d0a3541f133399dc7a073d3ff7c31b353a234cc343c0d3a64a0bad6b.gif

Colombia will do nothing – it is not a united country. Certainly FARC – will not allow the US to use Colombia as a spring board into Venezuela. The Colombian government forces are nothing more than mercs and will not be too happy fighting a real war. As for Maduro he needs ballistic missiles that can hit the southern US if there are attacks against Venezuelian urban areas and infra-structure. Honestly I do not see any invasion happening – The US would have to use its own forces and trying to set up a bridgehead in Colombia would be a disaster. The only other options is an amphibious landing along the coast – even more insane. I suspect that all of this was bluster to grab Venezuelian assets and further cripple its economy. Not even the zionists could imagine that they would have any chance of installing their whore Gweedo – let alone a military attack against a professional army that can fight back.

Piglet (Lawrence of Bavaria)

His name is Juan Guano, not Gweedo – because this idea of regime change is batshit crazy.
