Guys from The Independent promote the idea that more than 16,000 people escaped from Aleppo city because of the advane of “Assad forces”… adding that Russia is also guilty in this.
The Independent’s article argues:
After four months of siege and a bombing campaign which has bought rebel-held east Aleppo to its knees, civilians are fleeing across the frontline in their thousands to escape President Bashar al-Assad’s attempts to crush the city’s rebels for good.
Accroding to the article, that civilians are fleeing Aleppo city.
Now, let’s look for some facts. After some reseach it becomes clear that Humanitarian chief Stephen O’Brien said that civilians are fleeing eastern Aleppo for other parts of the city…. for example, government- and Kurdish-controlled areas. Let’s quote BBC:
Mr O’Brien said initial reports indicated that up to 16,000 people had fled their homes in eastern Aleppo in the past few days for government- and Kurdish-controlled districts, or other rebel-held areas.
Has the editorial staff of The Independent forgot what is the fact-checking? Or do theywant you to believe in the hoax?
Since the city is completely surrounded by govt forces, how would it be physically possible for the citizens to ‘flee govt forces’?
The MSM is completely and totally pathetic. Hmm… a little different than the coverage in Mosul as they talk about the aid given to citizens who ‘escape ISIS’. Why aren’t U.K. reporters on the ground in Aleppo, is Assad preventing it or do they have such a disdain for him that they are boycotting? They are still quoting the ‘UK based monitoring group’.
“UN alarm as 16,000 civilians flee government advance … Mr O’Brien said initial reports indicated that up to 16,000 people had fled their homes in eastern Aleppo in the past few days for government- and Kurdish-controlled districts, or other rebel-held areas.”
There are UK reporters on the ground. I remember Dan Rivers for itv: http://www.itv.com/news/2016-10-20/itv-news-witnesses-fierce-gunfight-in-aleppo-despite-ceasefire/ (he also writes for the mirror)
Of course its much saver to use these second hand sources like you named, before getting off track in information war. But that doesnt free them from the accusation of joint guilt for the ongoing terror in syria.
Sounds like they flunked geometry!
