On October 31, local security forces in the northern Syrian city of Manbij uncovered three camouflaged improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

In a statement, security forces said the IEDs, which were planted near the Martyrs Roundabout in Mani’s center, were uncovered by the locals.

The IEDs, which appeared to be made by professionals, were camouflaged as rocks. All three were equipped with remotely controlled fuses.

Manbij is held by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. However, the Syrian Arab Army maintains a large presence around the city. Syrian and Russian service members move inside the city on a regular basis.

Last September, Manbij security forces uncovered four IEDs, which were planted in the al-Asadiyah neighborhood south of the city.

The IEDs may have been planted by Turkish-backed militants or ISIS cells. Both sides are actively working to destabilize Manbij and other Kurdish-held areas in northern and northeastern Syria.
