A brief overview of the recent developments in the area:

• ISIS claimed that it had conducted a successful suicide bombing against government forces in Arege, Borno State. The supposed casualties number has not been provided;
• Niger’s armed forces said that they had eliminated 33 Boko Haram members in the Lake Chad region recently;
• A fire killed at least 8 people and left 15,000 others without shelter after raging through a refugee camp in the town of Gajiram in Borno State.
