The map below depicts the military situation in the northern part of Syria’s Aleppo province on September 4. A coalition of various pro-Turkish militant groups, supported by the Turkish Armed Forces have been conducting offensive operations against the ISIS terrorist group west of the strategic border town of Al Rai.
Now, the Ankara-led forces are advancing towards the village of Dabiq in order to encircle an ISIS grouping located in Sawran and the nearby areas. If this is done, the Ankara-led forces will be able to secure a significant area near the strategic logistic hub of Azaz. This will set a foothold for the long-awaited advance on another strategic ISIS-controlled town, Al Bab.
