Map Update: Military Situation In Sukhna Area At Palmyra-Deir Ezzor Highway

Support SouthFront

This map provides a look at the alleged military situation in the area of Sukhna at the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway where government forces are repelling a fierce ISIS attack. ISIS units are attempting to encircle the town. However, they have still not been able to achieve this goal because of a strong resistance from the army. Some pro-government sources even claimed  that the attack has been already repelled.

I’m wondering if ISIS soldiers were hiding behind rocks, waiting to do all these counterattacks. The SAA must revert all these gains and once they do it, it will be the end of ISIS, they spent too much manpower and equipment, this is their last chance and they know it.

Jens Holm

Too much wondering and no learning about the ISIS warfare even they now are in aftenoon or evening.

Alejandro Calero

And what do you think is the reason of that behavior from the part of the SAA? It is because at the start of the so called “revolution” half of the army joined the terrorists in search of a better country. That proved to be a lie with the passing of the years, but it left a huge void on the SAA. Arabs armies are known to be unprepared for warfare, and this is also the case. The SAA must be proud of surviving the most critical moments of the war, but there is still a lot to do, like wiping out kurds and exterminating the last ISIS strongholds.

Attrition47

Yes, the Syrian army has come a long way in a short time and we shouldn’t deprecate that. We can only guess at the US head-chopping, heart-eating rapers’ plans that have been foiled in the last three years. The Syrian army is now the most experienced in the Middle East and that will be giving the zionist pigs sleepless nights.

Valery Grigoryev

Wishful thinking, unfortunately…

You can have your little dream don’t want to wake you up to a nightmare.

Jens Holm

Its not about pride and respect. Its about very low general school, education. skills and hard work and being paid by that. That where the lack is and You as country by that can handle complicated things, which includes a modern military force.

And the lack could have been closed and kept down by making that possible by trust. In stead You have fear. Normally as countries inhabitants support their parlament and Goverment and therefore work for it.

So You have to look at the reasons for som many soldiers and some second class politicians as well as many others did that uprise and why kurds were neutral in this. At least You ask. Most loyal to Baathistas hardly dare and dont know, whats better.

Those many uprisers are apart from kurds by PYD only has a program telling the past by Sharia is better. Well, thats because they are not allowed to know.

When I read here as western, You are no sekular country and You havnt got anything even close to parlamentarisme.

And why. You are told even good stuff from here are not good and we are so low and strange. and Your nationalism is driven You down by not knowing real facts, so You are not even able to copy things from the rest of the world.

Actually the closest to make a real and needed change for and advanced state are giving power way from the center. You have to make more being deciders locally and let them make themselves better by deciding themselves.

You call Yourself sekular. You are not even close. You have a very unproductive private and public sector. You have no equal right for boys/girls-vomen/men at all.

About 80% of Your jobs are made as families. In my country 20% or a little less work in the family business. But all are paid by hour acccording to education, skills and hard work. That includes women being equal in all matters to men. All You useless restrictions – or most of them – are based on You raise Your men and boys as superior from the first day and then put them in a totally stupid competitions race, where too much is about winning – even its consequentens are fatal according to facts, which You can build You country by.

I dont buy that the arabic armies are this and that. First they are not arabian and – as written above – You have the same kind of ineffectivity in all Your country. Its no army problem at all.

You systematicly make Your whole country unready for needed changes sich as Old Assad should have went on with the active and needed reforms, but did the opposite. ……………………… I might me to compare with the SDF thinking. They are build up as guerilla thinkers from PKK. Guerilla are in small groups and has to work smart most of the time, they are few.

That makes makes and find many small leaders by their nasty profession. But it also find those, which has talent for being leaders and sometimes find leaders which are possible for more advanced leadership.

That makes, that those small leaders actually can follow the upper leaders and solve their warfare seen from above but make individuel solutions. ………………………………………………………………………………….

If the war was over those small leaders would very good leaders in almost all branched by high quilified leadership on the low level being in farming for a village, building counstructors, leaders of not so big schools even their education level is not high.

Its about how You make structure working smart and effective organising things, where everything goes up and down in the system and You TRUST people/leaders/politicians/facts both way.

PYD do that very well even if no Marxist. It doesnt matter which political or religios system, You have. All kan be organised well, bad and in the middle.

George King

The Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) is a Syrian affiliate of the militant Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). I would not call that working smarter nor effective leadership, in fact we know that the SDF is working for and with the same enabling sponsors and supporters of terrorist activity in the ME and around the world.

You can’t rationalize as you are trying to do here what has been the sins of the past and present and their role against the common man as useful idiots. Numberg trials if nothing else rejected that “following orders” as a get out of jail or off the gallows free pass.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Talk about a dream weaver with not even a clue to how ISIS fights , the SDF haven’t even learned how to fight them yet. Feel sorry when the US can’t buy them anymore then the SDF will have to fight for real.

Rafik Chauhan

SAA WHAT ARE YOU DOING . I KNOW YOU WANT TO BISEGE ISIL ONCE YOU REACH THE BORDER AFTER TAKING AL MAYDEEN. BUT SUKHNA IS IMPORTATNT SAA HAS TO OPE SUKHNA DIER ZOR HIGHWAY AND DONT LET SUKHNA FALL . IT WILL BE BAD NEWS . TARNISH TO PLAN OF US/SDF WHO HAS SUPPORTED ISIL .

Tony "Melinda" Stark

They mobilised the majority of forces stationed in Iraq for this offensive. This means that, excluded those fighting in sukhna, the rest of the battlefield is deserted. If SAA foil this offensive, they will likely defeat ISIS before winter ends.

Solomon Krupacek

According to AMN the situation is serious.

RichardD

The Syrian government coalition is advancing in all other areas. The only place that the Jew world order forces are advancing is this section of highway for Isis and east of the river for the SDF. Which isn’t really an advance, it’s just one regime change force advancing against another, not against the government.

The problem with this section of highway where Isis is advancing is a lack of air cover for some reason. Why adequate air cover isn’t available to deal with Isis troops and equipment I don’t know. But even without it the Syrian government coalition has superior ground based fire power as well. It just takes longer to clear Isis positions with ground weapons alone, than with ground and air power combined.

Daqiri

Maybe we’ll see fall of Suknah and then the third fall of Palmyra, and then IS connecting it with Qaraytayn and “moderates” at Dumayr…

Valery Grigoryev

What the hell is going on there???

Valery Grigoryev

It’s beginning to look like bloody Raate-Suomussalmi road during the Winter War…

Solomon Krupacek

excellent comparison! :)

Jens Holm

Funny people still remember that. But to campare with that is not so bad.

Valery Grigoryev

In some cases +40C is better than -40C, especially for soldiers in summer uniform…

ColinNZ

Fucking stupid that such risk has happened, so many senseless SAA lives lost … it was fucking obvious that the US & proxy terrorists would quickly and easily take advantage of the SAA & allies being so ridiculously overstretched. Fucking stupid doesn’t cover it !

PZIVJ

Not so smart to believe every map you see. Taking Deir Ezzor was always the #1 priority in E Syria. If ISIS wants to throw their reserves into the open desert areas, this is very stupid of them. This situation around Sukhna will be corrected very soon, and Daesh will be much weaker in the defense after that.

goingbrokes

SAA front line is actually shorter than a few months back, so these attacks are not due to over stretched forces. Daesh and AQ have lost hundreds and hundreds of fighters recently, and there are reports that populations are starting to revolt against Daesh. To launch an attack under these conditions is only possible by an influx of a few thousand fresh troops. Being newly brought in they have a short window of “flying under the radar”, and it looks they have been infiltrated through desert tracks to the Central regions. Being newcomers they probably have no idea of the war, so they are easily duped into a suicide mission which they think is a glorious conquest. They are buying some time, but they will all die in the attempt.

Jens Holm

Again: There are not a few 1000 troops at all. You and other systematicly lie. And You dont see SAA actual has several frontzones inside DEZ, a Bridgehead, some with SDF, are moving east to Madaan and guard long, long supplylines for many, many troops needing many, many things.

And Idlib too.

Seemes like a lot is “flying under Your radar” totally propgandized as it is.

goingbrokes

Haha. I really hope these are not fresh troops because that would mean the imminent and total end of Daesh in Syria. Hell, if that’s the case I’ll even buy you a Tuborg to celebrate! But if it’s betting, then I’ll wager that Bandar-Bush has spent quite a bit of Saudi coin to rustle up more Wahhabi crazies from the mosques around the world (including a few Rohingya). It is a lost cause, but hey, many more crazies will have to die.

Jens Holm

I dont think SAA has any fresh troops there and also kinds of lack of supply. I see it as a well planned delay of the defeat.

Denmark contribute too. For the moment we only has a big radar in Iraq. Its expensive, but I like beer. Sometimes loosers drink a beer too. I hope you do.

John Brown

ISIS is expending 99% of its resources against the SAA. This proves the Kurds are a terrible fighting force and would be crushed by the SAA in any direct confrontation and the Kurds only did well against ISIS because ISIS was not really fighting the kurds, their secret allies as they are clearly on the same side and most of their battles were staged with ISIS just withdrawing, but trying to make it look good. I now think in Raqqa there is no real battle just a genocide by the USA airforce exterminating the locals so the kurds can try to claim the territory with ISIS soldiers being evacuated to fight the SAA.

Jens Holm

Again no relation to facts.

Leon De Elias

ISIS just does these brilliant moves alone huh..? Are all stupid brainless fucks here..? CIA/Mossad coordinated and supported professional move..Not a terror gang on the brink of the collapse..I am wondering how many Israeli and US military personal involved on the ground..?
