Oh, hell… now the Chinese analysts have weighed in (as reported by the Russians). They got it all: SAS dressed as women to escape East Ghouta – partially successful, hundreds of US SOF killed in Russian airstrike on 18 March, Russia decapitating head-chopper leadership, etc. Yeah, tin-foil-hat extremism, but well worth the entertainment value alone. And, hey – it might be true! Sorry if this was posted before.

This isn’t a fire and forget weapons system, it’s maneuverable by the operator during it’s flight and probably has air defense evasion protocols to try to get it to target without being intercepted by air defense systems. I’m sure that the Syrian government coalition is learning a lot from these engagements.
With a 66 pound war head it’s destructive power is limited against large fortified ground structures. With most of them being taken down by Syrian air defense systems, the weapon system’s efficacy against Russian defended targets is questionable. The amount of Russian involvement in the intercept is unknown via open source research. But I’m guessing that there’s a higher level of intercept capability that could have been used, that wasn’t, because Russian service personnel weren’t at risk. Such as taking down the planes. Or more advanced or higher concentrations of anti aircraft missile and auto cannon fire. That the Syrians don’t currently possess. But taking down five out of eight missiles with what they have shows that they have quality equipment.

There are more versions I do believe then what Israel has yet made public. Israel is famous for such things. They have both fire and forget variants, and pilot guided. Israel often is secretive about their verity of weapons. Stealth is what they desire for all systems all solders and all aircraft. Israel does not share with the outside world what they have, I can assure you.
