Security forces, supported by army troops, warplanes and attack helicopters, have been still struggling to drive ISIS terrorists out from the city of Marawi in the Philippines.
ISIS terrorists captured a large part of the city two weeks ago. Since then, an intense fighting has been ongoing in the area.
According to defense officials, ISIS members use a large network of the undeground tunnels and basements in order to counter airstrikes and counter-attack against the advancing government troops. The militants were reportedly well-prepared for a possible siege. They prepared supplies in mosques and religious schools as well as set up sniper nests and military positions across the city.
The government believes that from 40 to 200 militants could remain in Marawi.
