Head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov addressed students and professors at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. In his speech, he stressed that the modern world faced threats that were more dangerous than those during the Second World war.
“Today, the situation in the world is certainly not as bloody as the situation that developed during the Second World war, but the risks are much greater, and they are not less serious,” Lavrov said.
Lavrov attributed terrorism and drug-related crime to modern challenges. The Minister noted that every year they claim a large number of lives.
According to Lavrov, one of the main problems that are facing the entire international community is the unwillingness of the number of countries, which are led by the United States, to recognize the objective reality and the formation of a new system of international relations with new power centers. Attempts to ignore this reality and prevent the formation of relations that respectfully take into account new world balance of power, were assessed by the Foreign Minister as short-sighted and dangerous.
“The West refuses to conduct a dialogue on equal terms, does not recognize the multipolar polycentric reality and tries to maintain its dominant position by using illegitimate methods such as sanctions, direct intervention, and so on,” Lavrov said.
Lavrov stressed that Russia remained committed to the principle of a multilateral approach to solving problems, primarily within the framework of the United Nations. At the UN, Russia, together with a large group of countries from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, is promoting partnership aiming to defend the core principles of the organization’s Charter. This policy can be considered an irrefutable confirmation of the commitment to the principles of multilateralism.

When asked by one of the students to compare the current geopolitical situation with an another period, Lavrov drew parallels between the current events and the period of the Second World war, stating the need to unite in front of a common enemy as a unifying feature between the two eras.
“Now we also have many common enemies, against which we must unite. Therefore, if we follow the logic – humanity and the common enemy, yes, the Second World was about this situation. But now we still do not have enough awareness of the threats that confront us, ” the Minister replied.
Earlier, Russian security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev accused the West of implementation of the techniques of Reich Minister of Public Education and Propaganda Joseph Goebbels. According to Patrushev, the West calls for unity against “common enemies”, including Russia. According to the official, thus the West creates conditions “for the emergence of ideas of national-state superiority.”
Today, one of the main points of confrontation is the escalated situation in Belarus. The Baltic States imposed sanctions against Belarus and banned Lukashenko and 29 other Belarusian officials from entering their territories for five years.
Sergey Lavrov also commented on the current situation, assessing Lithuania’s actions as unacceptable:
“Our Lithuanian neighbors have, in my opinion, already crossed all the boundaries of decency in the demand that they put forward. And we have reason to believe that they and Ms. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya are not using democratic methods at all, ” the Minister said. He added that these methods “do not show much” respect for the sovereignty of Belarus, since there are attempts to destabilize the situation in the Republic .
Despite the emphasis of the Lavrov’s message on the current confrontation between the collective West and the East, it is clear from the speech that the world is facing a more dangerous threat. By referring to the “common enemy” for all mankind, Russian Minister seems to imply the threats beyond the traditional agenda of the Great Game.

Russia’s Su-57 Fighter Will Reportedly Get ‘Invisibility Cloak’ Since mass production of the Sukhoi Su-57 began last year, developers have announced a number of add-ons for the fifth-generation fighter, ranging from new hypersonic missiles to plans to allow it to control swarms of drones. Russia’s Su-57 fighter jets are going to receive special protective cloaks to shield them from bad weather and enemy radar detection while they are on their airfields, with delivery of the cloaks set to begin next year, Izvestia has reported, citing sources in the military and the military industry. According to the newspaper, the cloaks will be made of radar signal-reflecting polymers, with each plane will receive over a dozen separate, specially-fitted covers for its fuselage, wings, cockpit, stabilisers, air intakes, wheels and other components. In addition to cloaking the plane, the coverings will protect the planes’ external electronics, including antennae, sensors, radar and optical and electronic systems from the elements. Lt. Gen. Valery Gorbenko, former commander of the 4th Air Force and Air Defence Army, told Izvestia that the cloaks will deprive the potential adversary of information such as where the planes are based, how many there are, as well as where and from where they have been transferred…………….

Prototype of Hypersonic Missile Designed for Su-57 Fighter Jet Ready for Testing – Reports
Late last year, Russian aerospace and defence giant United Aircraft Corporation confirmed that new weapons systems designed especially for the Su-57 had been developed or were in active development, without elaborating. A prototype hypersonic missile designed for use aboard Russia’s new Su-57 fifth-generation stealth fighter has been created, a defence sector source had told Russian media. The source described the missile as a small, air-to-surface weapon designed to be carried inside the plane’s fuselage, and said it has yet to be tested aboard the plane. No other details about the weapon’s characteristics or who developed it were made available, and the reports have yet to be commented on by anyone at UAC, Sukhoi or the military.
The defence sector first teased the possibility of deploying hypersonic missiles similar to the Kinzhal hypersonic, nuclear-capable missile in 2018. Kinzhal was deployed into service aboard the MiG-31K in December 2017, and a version of the missile for the Tu-160 ‘White Swan’ strategic bombers is also being developed. The weapon is believed to have an operational range of up to 3,000 km, and a flight speed of Mach 10-Mach 12 (12,250-14,700 km per hour). Large-scale deliveries of the Su-57 into Russia’s aerospace forces are expected to begin later this year. The aircraft is a fifth-generation stealth superiority fighter created by the JSC Sukhoi Company. The planes are intended to eventually replace the MiG-29 and Su-27 in Russia’s Aerospace Force and Navy, and are equipped with advanced avionics, airborne active phased radar, ELINT and a variety of high-precision weaponry.

T-14 Armata Next Generation Battle Tank Further new technologies being proposed for the T-14 include a more efficient 1,500 hp diesel engine, dual manual control of both weapons and the engine, and improved ergonomics and habitability. ‘Transparent armor,’ a technology resembling the distributed aperture systems integrated onto Chinese J-20 stealth fighters, will improve the crew’s situational awareness, and advanced decision-making support systems able to automatically identify targets up to 6 km away have also been proposed to upgrade the Armata. The upgrade will also provide defense against blinding laser weapons, all-out shielding against rocket-propelled grenade launchers and anti-tank guided missiles, and improved protection for onboard electronics against electromagnetic and microwave weapons. It remains uncertain which, if any of these upgrades, will be integrated onto the T-90M tank, which entered service in 2020 as a lighter and cheaper counterpart to the T-90 and integrates many of the same technologies.
