Qatari media Al Jazeera has reported that thousands Iranian troops are arriving via Latakia airport as Assad government declares assault on “rebels” in the Homs Governatore.
On October 15, Al Jazeera reported:
Groups of Iranian troops have been arriving in Syria via an airport in Latakia province, activists and a monitoring group say, as the Syrian army launches a major offensive north of the strategic city of Homs.
More Iranian troops have arrived in Bassel al-Assad International Airport, near Jableh in Latakia province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday.
The Syrian government halted all flights in and out of the airport on Tuesday and the airport is currently being used by Russia and Iran as an airbase, the UK-based activists’ network said.
This statement is very questionable becacuse of at least 3 reasons:
- “The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights” isn’t a network of the UK-based activists. It is run by ONE MAN. Indeed, it’s an entity set to disseminate spam and disinformation about the Syrian crisis.
- Al Jazeera argues that Iranian troops are arriving Syria through airports in Latakia. It’s questionable statement because SouthFront: Analysis & Intelligence already reported at least one Iranian air base works in the area around the city of Hama.
- Al Jazeera is a Qatari state-funded media. So, it hardly can produce unbiased reports about the Syrian war. Qatar is well-known sponsor and supported of ISIS.
Which aims does Qatar pursue by this report? It is trying to conduct confusion among anti-ISIS forces in the region to buy time for its proxies in Syria to regroup and prepare for future fights.
