The size of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) has tripled since the beginning of the Turkish Euphrates Shield operation in Syria.

Media: Size of Free Syrian Army Tripled since Turkish Invasion

Since the beginning of the Turkish Euphrates Shield operation in Syria, the numerical force of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) has increased, the Turkish Anadolu news agency reported, citing a division commander of the FSA, Murad Shikhly.

“If at the beginning of the operation the number of our soldiers was 1,000 soldiers, now we have about 3,000 [fighters]. We are confidently moving towards our goal. Neither the Daesh [also known as the Islamic State terrorist group], nor the PYD [the Kurdish Democratic Union Party] cannot stop us, because we believe in our strength. Of course, we have all this thanks to Turkey’s support, including logistics [support],” Anadolu quoted the words of Shikhly.

According to Shikhly, many of representatives of the FSA, who some time ago moved to Turkey, are now returning to the Syrian territory in order to resume the “armed struggle.”

The Euphrates Shield operation, conducted by Turkish troops, looks very ‘originally’. The Turkish Army announced it as the operation against IS members. However, IS terrorists did not engage in a battle with Turkish soldiers in northern Syria. As soon as Turkish troops were approaching to some settlement, terrorists of the so-called Islamic State group left the locality and went deep into the country. Instead of this, the Turkish Army is engaged in active hostilities against Kurdish self-defense units, which oppose the IS. On this background, size of the FSA, which is positioned as a ‘moderate’ opposition, but which also strangely avoids possible clashes with the IS, also grows.

Official Damascus calls Turkey’s actions in northern Syria occupation of the country.

Really? SouthFront? You call FSA terrorists but call PYD’s soldiers selfe-defense units?

PYD = PKK

PKK = Globally recognized terrorist organisation.

Period.

I like Assad and wanna see him prevail. But if he is going to continue to arm PKK, then he may as well go and fuck himself.

John Whitehot

lolz. Where in the fuck you hear that Assad arms the kurds. They’ve been destroying turkish tanks using Javelin missiles, and it’s pretty clear that neither Assad or Russia have those.

Ace

I know the PKK is a “globally recognized terrorist organisation” but I never hear what terrorism they engage in other than bombings inside Turkey.

Given Turkish treatment of the Kurds, I’m inclined to think that Turkey merits the GRTO designation itself. I’ve lots to learn about that area but Erdogan is just as likely to be a liar as the PKK are to be terrorists.

And general Turkish denial on the topic of the Armenian, Greek, and _____ genocide, nothing from the mouths of Turkish officials is to be believed.

'Sup Bruh!

Greek genocide? Greece were invading Turkey(Ottoman Empire of that time, republic of Turkey wasn’t established yet), literally took almost half of it and you believe it was us that did the genocide but not them? Go learn history and come back here again.

Ace

Other indigenous and Christian ethnic groups such as the Assyrians and the Ottoman Greeks were similarly targeted for extermination by the Ottoman government in the Assyrian genocide and the Greek genocide, and their treatment is considered by some historians to be part of the same genocidal policy.

Wikipedia entry for “Armenian genocide.”

The Greek genocide, part of which is known as the Pontic genocide, was the systematic genocide of the Christian Ottoman Greek population from its historic homeland in Anatolia during World War I and its aftermath (1914–22).[1] It was instigated by the government of the Ottoman Empire against the Greek population of the Empire and it included massacres, forced deportations involving death marches, summary expulsions, arbitrary execution, and the destruction of Christian Orthodox cultural, historical, and religious monuments.[2] According to various sources, several hundred thousand Ottoman Greeks died during this period.Wikipedia entry for “Greek genocide.”

These references are evidence of the Turkish killings. If you can cite something about the Greek “invasion” of Turkey, please do. Though, as you correctly point out, my grasp of history is deficient, my preliminary thought is that the Greeks rebelled against the Ottomans after centuries of the usual Islamic bool___t. As the second entry states, the killings took place in Anatolia which is a long, long way from Greece as military invasions go.

But please do educate me.

Your humble student, Ace.

PS. The blank in my original comment should have been “Assyrian.”

Sad , these 16 to 22 year old kids (in the photo) , willing to die because of “glory”, money, or their Wahhabi beliefs. Still they became a part of the army invading Syria with Turkish armor backing. So does Erodgan want to eliminate the Kurdish , or claim the oil fields held by ISIS .

A question to Sup Bruh , I thought the US was arming the Kurds, not Assad ?

John Whitehot

most of them are heroin addicts and get paid in dope, at least in part. That way they are also less prone to feel combat fatigue and pain, and are also less afraid to die.

Yahya Ibn Selam

Lol, where do you get that from?

John Whitehot

read that on books involving war on terror by the US in A-Stan, Iraq and elsewhere. Description of servicemen confiscating truckloads of dope and trying to interrogate jihadists who were totally fucked up on that shit. Can’t remember the title after 5 months though.

brutus

The Rocket came down directly onto Erdogans Palace and left a giant crater. Syria apologized from Latakia coast resort …reminding Turkish troops in North Syria to Pick up their Garbage before leaving.
