On November 14, Faylaq Al-Rahman and Ahrar Al-Sham launched an attack against Syrian government forces in the Eastern Ghouta ‘de-escalation zone’, near Damascus.
The main clashes took place in the Armored Vehicle Base area southeast of the militant-held village of Harsta. The Syrian Air Force responded with airstrikes on militant positions. The Syrian Army’s artillery units also joined the effort.
However, the situation in the area remained tense.
The de-escalation agreement near Damascus collapses as the “opposition” faces an additional uncertainty in its future after the defeat of ISIS.
