On October 28, the Jaish al-Fatah militant operation room launched a full-scale offensive in order to break the siege of militant-controlled neighborhoods of Aleppo city that had been set by the Syrian government forces.
It’s confirmed that Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian Al-Qaeda branch), Jaish al-Mujahideen, Fastaqim Kama Umirt, Faylaq al-Sham, Ajnad al-Sham, Ahrar al-Sham and the Islamic Front participate in the operation. In coming hours all them will be described by the mainstream media reporting on the topic as a ‘moderate opposition’.

The offensive begun with massive shelling of the al-Assad Neighborhood in western Aleppo with ‘Grad’ missiles, artillery and mortars.
Then, three vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) targeted the government positions in the Al-Assad Neighborhood. Reports say that at least one major checkpoint belonging to the Syrian army was destroyed.
According to the inicial reports, Jabhat Fatah al-Sham used a Suicide Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (SVBIEDs) for this. Then pro-militant media activists ‘clarified’ that one explosion was result of a ‘remote-controlled’ vehicle-borne improvised explosive device used by the Islamic Front.
In this case, only 2 of 3 car bombs were run by the suicide bombers.
Then, the joint miliatnt forces attacked the pro-government forces’ positions at Research Facility, Minyan, Dahiyat al-Assad in western Aleppo. Jabhat Fatah al-Sham claimed to have captured Minyan Sawmills after a series of short firefights. Ahrar al-Sham allegedly seized the al-Surah checkpoint at edge of the al-Assad Neighborhood.
The main offensive operations of militant forces are focused on the northwestern and western parts of Aleppo.
Clashes were also reported on the Breij front in northern Aleppo.
