On May 8, activists shared a video of the recent attack on Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops in southern countryside of Idlib.
The footage shows militants targeting a position of the army near the town of al-Burayj with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM). Activists claimed that the ATGM strike killed or injured ten service members. However, the footage proves that these claims are false.
Mohamad Ottoman, a propagandist for al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), was the first to share the video. This indicates that the terrorist group may have been behind the attack.
The attack represents a violation of the ceasefire agreement, that was brokered by Russia and Turkey on March 5. The SAA usually responds to such violations within a few days.
Such provocation could lead to the collapse of the March 5 agreement. Several groups in Greater Idlib, including HTS, rejected the agreement when it was first announced. These groups see any peaceful solution to the crisis in Idlib as a threat to their very existence.
again and again, thanks to such a cease fire agreement between Russia and Turkey. These attacks will not stop until SAA-Russia get rid of ALL TERRORISTS, including those supported by Turkey, and Syria recovers all its territory, no just that 65% that actually has.
