Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies launched a counter-attack in the northern countryside of Hama on April 4.
HTS-led forces attacked the town of Maardes that government forces had liberated earlier this week.
Militants reached the outskirts of the town and engaged government forces in an intense firefight in the area. Some pro-militnat sources even reported that militants had entered Maardes and even seized it, but these were not confirmed (at 12:01 CET).
The militant counter-offensive followed reports that HTS-led forces had received fresh reinforcements from the militant-held area of Idlib.
What the fuck!!
HTS needs to launch attack which will divert SAA from Souran and Taibat . If SAA captures Taibat ,Halfay will also fall and then the first defensive line is broken . And then SAA will reach Latamiya which is the second defense line . And if they capture the town they are going for the last in North Hama – Kafr Zita – Morek
you KNOW this will never ever possible. Fresh reinforcements from HTS will fast learn that they brought to THE meat grinder :)
These are the Frontal attacks that we talked about many times. It will be a long and costly battle. Enormous destruction of manpower and equipment will occur. Why won’t SAA attack from both Hamamiyat towards Kafr Zita and from Maan towards Morek to put pressure on the whole HTS terrorists inside the pocket. If they see that SAA is making real progress on both directions simultaneously, they will fear encirclement and might hurriedly withdraw from the pocket. I think this strategy is worth testing by the SAA commanders and strategists.
DJ Double have you ever been in combat??? You don’t want the terrorists to withdraw or retreat. You want them to send in everything they have got into this battle so they will be out in the open and more vulnerable to air strikes, heavy artillery and the new Russian flame throwers, so they can be destroyed. This is the type of battle field where the SAA has a big advantage so use it to the max. Wars are won by destroying the enemies ability to fight including their armed forces. Taking territory doesn’t matter if the enemy is a able to counter attack and they can’t do that if they have been destroyed.
John Brown, what are we talking about? Have you heard about encirclement or imitation of encirclement in military dictionary? There is the old adage that says – to view a spectacle well, one has to change positions. You are fighting the beasts like HTS who are so radicalized that they will fight to death and you have other option to intimidate or maneuver them to save you time, manpower and lives and you won’t do that. Mind you, the only reason why SAA has managed to capture back this 75% – 80% of recent loss is because HTS has not enough time to prepare fortifications to defend those territories. Do you think it will be that easy to move further on locations that they have years to prepare defensive positions?
Yes they are not fortified, so destroy them, push them back yes but because they are so radical they fight stupidly use that. Let them send in reinforcements to positions that are not fortified and can be encircled so they can be wiped out. The SAA will have to fight these terrorists eventually so better to fight them now in a good position for the SAA instead of in Idlib where they are dug in as you say. Better to let them come into the open so they an all be destroyed.
hope so bro!!!
I am going to black list 2 of my sources . They lied again to me . Anyway the attack until now is being repelled . Maardes wont be fully safe until Taibat and Souran are captured
Just take khan Sheikhun in a pincer movement, half of these thugs are from ex besieged areas and the last thing they want is to be besieged again….use the psychological pressure on them, as they see khan Sheikhun is the only way out, bomb the shit out of them,……no need to worry about other fronts because SAA is moving in Eastern Homs and soon the Salamiya-Palmyra road would be open, even if it isn’t, tigers don’t have to go far….this is just perfect for SAA!
Now it will be harder to take Khan Sheykhun .
why?
Fresh reinforcements? From where? I’m still inclined to say they left Bab with a Tiny garrison. SAA should try to take it.
Lets hope the terrorists send all their remaining manpower from Idlib into this suicidal offensive in HAMA so they can all be destroyed out in the open and Idlib can be liberated that much faster and end the war that much faster.
Oh, How I wish that to Happen. The reality though is that the war has been going on now for 5 years or so and there is no shortage of Terrorists. As long as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and co exist, so the terrorists will keep coming.
They can keep coming but with the new Syrian armie’s Russian training, new recruits, new weapons etc they won’t make it past the border. They got into Syria because Assad was stupid in not seeing the threat and he could have been a better leader. Maybe he will be now? He can start by having all men between 18 and 65 in the army reserves like Switzerland and having them keep their weapons at home. This way the entire country can be mobilized in 24 hours to fight off any invasion. With the new oil discoveries in Syria, spreading the wealth around to the people would be good, cracking down big time on corruption and investing in the economy would also help.
They already captured Maardes.
