Militants stationed in Greater Idlib used a US-made ground-to-ground rocket in a recent attack on the Russian Hmeimim airbase on the Syrian coast, Russian outlet Avia.Pro reported on July 19, citing ‘officials and social media reports’.
The outlet claimed that the attack took place at night time with the rocket landing in the vicinity of the Russian base.
“If US-made ground-to-ground rocket were actually used to attack the Russian Hmeimim airbase, this raises serious concerns,” the outlet’s report reads.
Avia.Pro didn’t provide any evidence proving the claims in the report. However, the outlet noted that militants’ sources are known for sharing unreliable information.
The most recent attack on Hmeimim airbase was carried out two days ago by Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sharqiya. The group’s militants used an improved copy of the Soviet 122mm Grad rocket in the attack.
With the lack of any evidence, these claims can be considered nothing but a propaganda stunt meant to increase the tension between the U.S. and Russia in Syria.
Over the past few years, various ‘pro-opposition’ and MSM soures have released multiple speculations concerning the Russian and Iranian military presence and tensions between the two powers in Syria. Most of these reports appeared to be untrue.
Recently, a new trend appeared. Now, these sources are attempting to once again destabilize the situation in southern and eastern Syria where a relative calm appeared after the defeat of ISIS’ self-proclaimed Caliphate.
It is hardly a surprise as NATO and US are directly supplying the terrorists via the Turkish MIT which was created by the CIA in the cold war era. The strategy is to turn Syria into a Russian quagmire. It is time Russia took the gloves off and start arming Iran with some real lethal weaponry.

Iran has plenty of it’s own lethal weaponry, exceptionally good medium range ballistic missiles, very good new AA systems, lightning fast agile attack ships specifically engineered to counter the US navy, and a huge and mostly capably drone force too now, but the most lethal weapon they have in the arsenal is Hezbollah. So they could give the Turks a good run for their money if they had to, but the Turks and Iranians don’t really want to fight each other, they’re both much more concerned about the devastating US sanctions destroying their economies.

Even if the rebels did use a US made missile it would’ve most likely been a Turkish owned missile, one the Turks had bought from the US and subsequently gifted to the rebels, so they could effectively attack the Russians, just like they do with the Grad rockets and Launchers, and the heavy mortars, and the armoured fighting vehicles.
