In the Luhansk direction, the trap around Severodonetsk is gradually shrinking. The control zone of LPR forces has expanded on the southern outskirts of Rubezhnoe and to the west of Borovskoye. The offensive in the Novoshtokovskoye-Horskoye direction is developing.
In Popasnaya, LPR troops are slowly advancing through the streets of the town. However, the major assault was likely repelled by the AFU, and LPR forces reportedly secured the Eastern outskirts of the town.
On April 12, Russian artillery units inflicted fire strikes on six strongholds of units of the 24th Ukrainian separate mechanized brigade in the area of Popasnaya. As a result of the strikes, more than 120 personnel, eleven armored vehicles and fourteen vehicles for various purposes were destroyed, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
Fighting also continues on the outskirts of Rubezhnoe and Severodonetsk. LPR forces have reportedly made several attempts to assault the city, but were repelled to the outskirts by the AFU.
Several Ukrainian servicemen surrendered to the LPR People’s Militia after they were ordered to kill civilians in Rubezhnoe.
In the city of Rubezhnoye, LPR forces are slowly moving from street to street. The central districts of the city are still being shot by Ukrainian snipers, and fires are breaking out in residential areas from artillery strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The AFU are in control over the industrial district on the southeastern outskirts of the town. The Zarya chemical plant is located there. Earlier Ukrainian soldiers blew up a tank with chemicals there. Kyiv officials have stated that the Russians blew up a chemical tanker. Containers with ammonia and other chemicals also remain at the plant. LPR forces admit that the AFU are preparing a provocation and may detonate toxic chemicals when they approach the facility. In this case, a major environmental catastrophe cannot be avoided.
Chemical attacks, the gradual advance of DPR troops through the center, and fighting on the outskirts of the town all characterize the situation in Rubezhnoe. So far, the situation is extremely tense.
As well as on other front lines, fighting in the LPR continues with air support of the Russian Aerospace Forces. On April 12, Russian aircraft hit 38 military facilities in Ukraine, including 8 areas of concentration of military equipment. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the Toshkovka ammunition depot in the Luhansk region was hit, as well as 8 areas of concentration of Ukrainian military equipment in the settlements of Glazunovka, Pyatigorsk and Prishib of the Kharkiv region.

How come we never get good coverage of these battles? All I ever see is two or three guys running around. Popasnaya, Severodonetsk, Marylinka, these are really tough nuts to crack. I would like to see the fortifications that has been built. Do you think we will ever get to see it? This is the worse covered conflict in living memory. This is why so many call it a fake war. I wouldn’t go that far, but I will say that the civil war or the war in Donbass in 2014-15 had far more extensive coverage.
To be honest, Russians have like 2 guys covering this entire war. Kadirov is more active in propaganda sphere and information warfare than entire Russian government.
Russia are doing the job on the battlefield while Ukrops stage false flags material for the western mainstream media and corrupt and biased social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook etc. and use their own people as human shields to beg US and its terrorist organisation NATO to come to their rescue. I know that this kind of stuff happens and that the nazi militias are there largely to enforce by violence the discipline of the Ukrainian conscript (and at this point I imagine that very demoralized) Army, just as it happened in 2014-15. But that recruits are ordered to murder civilians… that’s something I had not heard of until now. Even the (German) Nazis had to stop doing that because it was such a heavy toll on the troops’ morale and discipline that it threatened to destroy the Wemacht from inside, that’s why the switched to death camps under specialized hyper-fanatic units (SS).

I’m not buying that. Ukraine was a reasonable place until Maidan, which was your typical US-led putsch, like Honduras 2009. These dark designs emanate from the “civilized” Germanic world much more than from the “barbaric” Slavic world (in which you’re mirroring Hitler’s ideology, beware!), unless we consider Poland, which is very much Slavic and one of the main pro-nazi foreign actors in Ukraine (also the most loyal dog of the USA in Europe, even more than Britain possibly).
I know for a fact that many Ukrainians, while not siding with Donbass, have been very reluctant to fight them, being forced to do so at gunpoint by the nazi militias organized by the USA and the Ukrainian oligarchs, often paying with their lives for their war resistance. This was real in 2014 and is apparently real now. By generalizing to all Ukrainians as an oversimplified ethnic category you’re falling into the same rabbit hole as the Maidan Nazis.

The reason why DPR cant break through is because Russia wont let them use heavy weapons in residential areas. Also no airstrikes against residential areas. I understand they want to spare civilian lives and infrastructure but UAF is the exact opposite. That’s the main problem. So at what point is enough enough? UAF can only be defeated by overhelming indiscriminate WWII style firepower.
