Finally, Kyiv officially acknowledged its military operations on the Russian territory. In an attempt to gain some media benefits and declare victories to please its Western patrons, Zelensky is once again showing that Ukraine is a failed state without any democracy. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military is bleeding on the Russian border.
On August 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the heads of the border regions. The Russian leadership acknowledged that the situation is difficult. According to the governor of the Kursk region, there are 28 settlements under Ukrainian control. The front is about 40 kilometers wide. According to ambitious General Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrsky, the Ukrainian military is in control of about 1,000 square kilometers of the Russian territory.
The real configuration of the frontlines in the Kursk region is covered by the smog of war. Main forces of the Ukrainian grouping operating in Russia were stopped by Russian border guards and military personnel deployed in the border areas. Soon, Russian military reserves hastily transferred to the border areas, including Chechen special forces and Wagner fighters, stabilized the frontlines and Russian forces are already launching counterattacks grinding Ukrainian units.
As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine failed to achieve any significant advance in recent days. The Ukrainian military mainly attempts attacks by small assault groups probing Russian defense in different directions. The local Russian authorities warned that Ukrainian sabotage groups disguised in Russian military uniform with fake Russian documents are operating in the region.
On August 13, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian army repelled Ukrainian attempts to attack near the settlements of Snagost and Obschy Kolodez, Kauchuk, Alekseevsky located near each other.
The AFU attempt assault in the town of Sudzha. The presence of Russian forces in Sudzha complicates Ukrainian attempts to pass the village by the northern flank and launch attacks by large forces on the villages of Mikhailovka, Martynovka and Bolshoe Soldatskoe located to the east. Today, Russian forces repelled another Ukrainian attack near the village of Martynovka that was recently recaptured by Russian forces as a result of counterattacks.
North of Sudzha, the AFU are trying to develop their offensive in different directions. After Ukrainian forces failed assault on the outskirts of Korenevo, they attempted attack in the villages of Korenevo and Olgovka located to the east but were also repelled. The ongoing attempts to attack Snagost also bring no results. The settlement is of strategic importance. There are several important roads, including the one leading to Korenevo, control of the road could pave the way for Ukrainian offensive on the town from the western direction.
Northeast of Sudzha, Ukrainian assault groups continue attempts to break through Russian defense in Malaya Loknya to secure control of the road leading to the city of Lgov. Ukrainian propaganda is also spreading fake videos of Ukrainian servicemen allegedly entering Lgov but Ukrainian lies are hastily revealed by attentive viewers. The road sign in the settlement differ from the fake one made by Ukrainians. So far, Ukrainian forces were only spotted in the village of Kromskie Byki, Ivnitsa and Kauchuk, where they were defeated and failed to gain a foothold. So far, Ukrainian forces have managed to take control only of the small village of Victorovka on the southwestern outskirts of Malaya Loknya.
Stopped in all directions, the Ukrainian military attempted offensive southeast of Sudzha. The main goal is likely to advance towards the town of Belaya in order to take control of more roads in the region. So far, Ukrainian forces were seen moving in the village of Giryi, where they were destroyed reportedly by Wagner fighters. Another Ukrainian group was spotted building fortifications in the forest areas near the village of Semenovka in this direction.
Russian authorities also confirmed that Ukrainian forces used chemical weapons, in particular in the Belaya direction in the Kursk region. According to the official reports on August 12, a civilian repair group came under fire of shells were with chemical weapons. Earlier, various military sources warned Russian servicemen that the ene,y deployed shells with chemical substances in other settlements in the region.
Unable to achieve new gains around Sudzha, the Ukrainian military attempts to contain Russian forces with battles in other areas along the border. The Ukrainian military command is forced to send additional reinforcements to the Kursk region in an attempt to hold control of the captured settlements. Ukrainian media report that the General Staff of Ukraine proposed to transfer two more brigades to the Kursk direction in order to expand and maintain the created bridgehead on Russian territory. Zelensky reportedly agreed.
Judging by the reports from the front, the main goal of the Ukrainian grouping in the Kursk region is to hastily build military positions to save control of the captured areas for as long as possible, until any political decisions could be taken. Kyiv is set to prolong battles on the Russian territory despite heavy losses and the weakening of its defense on the Donbass frontlines. LINK
The main offensive operations in the Kursk region are launched by roving assault groups that attempt to enter the settlements and gain a foothold, waiting for main forces to come. This strategy allowed the Ukrainian military to gain a bridgehead in the border areas in the first days of the offensive, but it is no longer useful after the Russian military reinforced defense in the region. The assault groups are largely destroyed by Russian drones and missiles and Ukrainian losses grow. More and more Ukrainian servicemen surrender.
On August 13, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation claimed that in total, during the fighting in the Kursk region, the AFU lost up to 2,030 military personnel, 35 tanks, 31 armored personnel carriers, 18 infantry fighting vehicles, 179 other armored combat vehicles, 78 vehicles, four anti-aircraft missile systems, two multiple rocket launchers and 14 field artillery guns.
At the same time, the Ukrainian army is suffering heavy losses as a result of constant Russian massive strikes in the Ukrainian border Sumy region, where Ukrainian reserves are pounded by various bombs and missiles.
A large number of foreign mercenaries armed with NATO weapons are involved in the operations in the Kursk region. Kyiv is unlikely to include their victims in the statistics of the losses of the Ukrainian army suffered on the Russian territory.

Unfortunately, the ongoing Ukrainian operations in the Kursk region are also causing civilian casualties. According to the latest official data, the deaths of 12 civilians were confirmed in the region, 121 people were wounded, including 10 children.
On August 13, the UN confirmed the deaths of four civilians in the Kursk region. The official representative of the UN Office for Human Rights confirmed that civilians were killed as a result of military actions on the part of Ukraine.
“We also know that several other civilians, including a journalist and medical workers, were injured. We don’t know exactly the circumstances of each incident,” the UN representative said.
The evacuation of civilians continue in the border regions. On August 12, the governor of the Kursk regions reported that 121 thousand residents out of 180 have already left the region. The fates of about 2,000 residents of the war-torn settlements remain unknown. Taking into account inhumane behavior of Ukrainian Nazis in the captured areas, the number of victims is likely to grow significantly.
Both local residents and captured Ukrainian servicemen testify on horrific war crimes against civilians of Ukrainian servicemen in the Kursk region. Volunteers disappeared after they came to the border regions to help evacuate civilians. Their relatives believe that they were captured by the AFU and taken to Ukraine. People who survived the first days of the attacks share their stories, describing Ukrainian atrocities. The footage from Sudzha shows dozens of civilian vehicles abandoned on the streets after Ukrainian attacks.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched criminal cases against Ukrainian military commanders and its specialists are investigating numerous war crimes against civilians in the region. More horrific details of Ukrainian atrocities will be revealed after the Russian army liberates the border areas.
In its turn, the terrorist Kyiv regime has indirectly confirmed its guilt. Trying to be proactive in the media, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that Russian special forces may stage war crimes of the Ukrainian military in the Kursk region. Thus, Kyiv is well aware of murders of Russian civilians, and is trying to hide its crimes blaming Russia for the alleged staged massacre, as Ukrainians did in Bucha.

Zelensky launched the military operations on the Russian territory without permission of the Verhovna Rada of Ukraine to deploy the Ukrainian military abroad.
