Russian forces continue constant strikes on the Ukrainian military and energy infrastructure facilities throughout Ukraine. Missile strikes on the targets in the Lviv, Poltava, Zaporozhye, Cherkasy, Odessa, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions of Ukraine were launched.
The head of the office of the Ukrainian President, Andriy Ermak, confirmed another massive attack, claiming that on February 16, Russian missiles reached targets in the northern and western regions of Ukraine, as well as facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovograd regions.
Mr Ermak also confirmed the change in the approach of the Russian Armed Forces. They began using a large number of false targets along with the missiles, which are aimed to distract the Ukrainian air defence forces. UAVs are also massively used to disclose the location of Ukrainian air defense systems.
The massive use of the so-called false targets in the recent attacks is also confirmed by military sources of the warring sides.
According to unconfirmed reports of Ukrainian sources, citing the Kiev officials from the Presidential office, on February 16, Russian forces mainly targeted Ukrainian military facilities, and damage to several critical infrastructure facilities was confirmed.
Two air defense units and several weapons depots were reportedly hit. In their turn, Ukrainian forces reportedly managed to intercept only a few missiles and 5 UAVs.
Local residents reported at least six explosions in the city of Kremenchug. Damage to the 330 kV Kremenchug power substation was confirmed. The energy facility located near the front lines was already hit by Russian forces during the recent attacks.
The head of the military administration of the Lviv region claimed that as a result of the strike a facility of critical infrastructure was damaged in the Lviv region. Fire broke out after at least three missiles struck the facility. The attack resulted in no casualties.
“The only thing I can clarify is that this is not an object on which the supply of electricity to the Lviv region depends,” the Ukrainian official said.
Later, the head of the Kirovograd regional administration claimed that an infrastructure facility in the Kropyvnytsky district was also hit. According to him, security services are deployed on the spot, no one was injured as a result of the attack.
Ukrainian media also reported explosions in the Poltava district of the capital of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova claimed that the wreckage of the rocket was discovered by Border Police officers in the north of Moldova.
