The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation keep pushing the frontlines to the west in almost all directions in the Donbass. December 3rd was marked by new Russian victories on the battlefields.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation officially confirmed the full control of two more settlements. They include the villages of Romanovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Novodarovka in the Zaporozhie region.
The village of Novodarovka is located southwest of Velika Novoselka in the Zaporozhie direction. It was captured by the Ukrainian military during the bloody counter offensive last year but Ukrainians again lost control of it.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue their offensive operations in different directions around Ukrainian stronghold in Velyka Novosilka. They are advancing on a wide front approaching the road to the town from the west. This is the last road that can be used by the Ukrainian garrison in Velyka Novosilka but there is already threat of Russian fire.
At the same time, they won another victory north of Velyka Novosilka. Ukrainian military sources confirmed that the road north of the town was cut off by Russian troops. Heavy battle for the village of Novy Komar is ongoing. The Ukrainian military command send reinforcement to the village in an attempt to tstop Russian advance but according to preliminary reports, Ukrainian forces were repelled from the village.
It seems that the Russian military has the same tactics that it used during the battles for Ugledar and Selidovo. The strategically important logistics hub of the Ukrainian military in Velika Novosilka was already surrounded from several directions. There is only one road left for evacuation of the Ukrainian military from the cauldron but it is likely to come under a close Russian fire control soon. At the same time, the Ukrainian garrison in the town itself is busy repelling Russian attacks on the eastern outskirts, where urban battles are already ongoing. Sucha a tactics of the Russian military prevents the Armed Forces of Ukraine from concentrating forces on one direction and reinforce their defense.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are awaiting for another large-scale offensive of the Russian army on the southern Zaporozhie front. The Ukrainian military command pulled together many units with UAV operators and saturated the air with their drones, launching constant strikes at a distance of up to 30 km deep in the Russian rear. On December 2nd, a civilian gas station in the town of Tokmak was destroyed by Ukrainian drone strikes. Ukrainian forces are aimed to prevent any large-scale operations of the Russian military in this direction.
The Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo directions remain the most dangerous battlefields for the Ukrainian military.
On the southern flank, the village of Romanovka, control of which was officially confirmed today, is located east of Uspenovka and was liberated back in late November. On November 23rd, the assault groups of the South group of Russian forces broke into the area of Ilyinka and Romanovka, grinding Ukrainian forces in the pocket in the area of the Sukhye Yaly River. As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are forced to retreat in the direction of Uspenovka, which they turned into another stronghold. Battles are already ongoing in Gannivka (Annovka) and on the northern outskirts of Trudovoe located south of Uspenovka.
On the northern flank, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are advancing in Stary Terny the main stronghold that prevents the encirclement of the Ukrainian garrison in Kurakhovo from the west.
Russian assault is ongoing in Kurakhovo. According to preliminary reports, Russian forces took control of the entire central part of the city. Ukrainian forces were almost repelled from the apartment buildings in the center. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding defense in the western part and in the Southern district. The industrial zone on the northwestern outskirts is likely to become the last Ukrainian stronghold in Kurakhovo soon. Russian forces approached it from the easter direction. After their victory in Stary Terny, they the industrial zone will be surrounded.
The crisis of the Kurakhovo group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is gaining momentum. The transfer of Ukrainian military reserves to this direction are yet to stop Russian advance. Reserves from the Kherson region are being hastily transferred to Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo. However, despite all the hastily taken measures by the enemy the AFU units continue retreating and suffering heavy losses.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army is developing its offensive towards the village of Shevchenko from the recently captured Zholtoe (Zhovte). The Russian military is aimed to take fire control and further cut the Pokrovsk-Kurakhovo road. Russian troops are also advancing westward near the village of Pushkino.
Russian forces are expanding their zone of control in Toretsk (Dzerzhinsk), in particular Russian forces advanced in the Zabalki district. On the southwestern outskirts, the territory of the Central mine reportedly came under Russian control. Russian control of the mine piles weakened the entire line of Ukrainian defense on the western outskirts of Toretsk, which may collapse in the near future. The Ukrainian military command deployed three brigades from the Sumy region and two brigades from the Oskol front to Toretsk, which led to the weakening of the AFU positions in these areas but did not stop Russian advance in Toretsk.
North of Kupyansk, heavy fighting is ongoing on the western bank of the Oskol River, where Russian forces are expanding their two bridgeheads near Masyutovka and Dvurechny on the Ukrainian western bank.
In the Kharkiv region, Russian troops continue to expand their control zone, liberating new territories between the settlements of Zagryzovo and Lozovaya.
