In recent days, Russian forces achieved several important victories west of the Donetsk urban agglomeration, threatening the Armed Forces of Ukraine with new large cauldrons. The Russian army is advancing in the Pokrovsk direction, taking the large Ukrainian stronghold in Selidovo in a pincer.
The Russian troops are expanding their zone of control north of Selidovo. On October 7th, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the full control of the town of Grodovka located in the Pokrovsk direction in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Meanwhile, Russian forces repelled Ukrainian troops from several more strongholds on the outskirts of Mykolaivka. Clashes continue in Lysovka, where Russian assault troops gained a foothold in the eastern part of the village. Russian forces are also improving their positions, expanding their zone of control on a wide front west of Novogrodovka, surrounding the Ukrainian garrison in Selidovo on its northern outskirts. A strategically important height of the dump of the Novogrodovskaya #2 mine came under Russian control.

On the eastern outskirts of Selidovo, clashes are ongoing on the territory of the Korotchenko mine. Control of the facilities will allow Russian forces secure the road leading to Selidovo from the village of Mikhailovka to the east. The Russian assault groups are yet to enter Selidovo, but their breakthrough from the eastern outskirts is expected in the nearest future amid the the rapid Russian advance south of the city.
In recent days, Russian forces have significantly advanced along the railway tracks on the southern flank and surrounded Selidovo from the southern outskirts. Russian forces are rapidly advancing from their strongholds in the area of Tsukurino, developing offensive operations in different directions both to the north and south.
Having secured their flanks north and south of Selidovo, Russian troops may soon surround the town. Meanwhile, Russian drones and artillery are pounding Ukrainian servicemen hiding in the city:
The Ukrainian military command understands that the Ukrainian military will soon have to flee and loose control of the city of Selidovo. In an attempt to slow down the further Russian advance toward Pokrovsk and threatened by Russian flank attacks, Ukrainian forces are hastily reinforcing new lines of defense in the area of Pokrovsk as well as in the direction of the city of Dnipro (Dnepropetrovsk).

To the south, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are rapidly advancing in different directions in the area of Kurakhovo. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are threatened with new large cauldrons.
Ukrainian forces are losing positions, grinded in the so-called Nevelskoe cauldron. Their defense in the area west of Nevelskoe is doomed to defeat but the Ukrainian military command prohibits the Ukrainian troops to withdraw from wide field areas despite the threat of heavy losses.

On the northern flank of the Nevelskoe cauldron, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the full control of the village of Zhelannoe Vtoroe.
On the southern flank, Russian forces are advancing in Maksymilianovka, where Ukrainian forces attempt to resist on the northern outskirts. Russians are also completing the mop up operations on the territory of the a mine on the western outskirts of Ostroe. According to preliminary reports, Russian assault groups are already storming Ostrivske located on the southern bank of the Volchya river and local water reservoir.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine previously withdrew some of their units from the Nevelskoe cauldron to Ostrivske and other settlements in the Kurakhovka-Gornyak urban area but the scale of Russian advance threatens them with another large cauldron and surrounding of the entire urban area.
Kurakhovo today:
After reinforcement, Russian forces launched offensive south of Tsukurino and have already achieved new victories. On October 6, Russian forces took control of the town of Tsukurino which turned into a strategic stronghold that will provide for the further Russian offensive in deferent directions. The Russian Ministry of Defense is yet to officially confirm the control of the town. The mop up operations are ongoing there. Russian forces are storming Ukrainian military positions deployed in the local poultry farm located on the western outskirts.
The Russian army is advancing toward the village of Ilyinka. Clashes were already reported in Novoselidovka, near Izmailovka located on its way.
In the case of success, the Russian army will soon reach the northern bank of the Volchie water reservoir, leaving no way to the Ukrainian garrison to retreat. Thousands of Ukrainian servicemen risk to be grinded in another cauldron if they are not timely allowed to retreat. Taking into account the years of hostilities in Ukraine, including the recent battle for Ugledar, the Ukrainian command prefers to fight for the last soldier, abandoning entire units in cauldrons.

The current developments in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo directions confirm that the crisis of Ukrainian defense in deepening and the Ukrainian military fails to stop Russian offensive along the entire Donbass front. No gifts from NATO can help the Ukrainian military. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost over 420 soldiers, German-made Leopard tank, three armored combat vehicles, six vehicles, three 152-mm Msta-B howitzers and two US-made 105-mm M119 guns over the past day in this direction.
