The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue offensive operations in different directions on the Donbass frontlines. The Pokrovsk direction remains the most dangerous one for the Ukrainian military which cannot stop Russian advance.
On August 4, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the full control of the town of Novoselovka Pervaya located 15 kilometers west of Avdeevka.
The preliminary reports about Russian control of the settlement came at the end of July. Russian victory was confirmed both by Russian and Ukrainian military reporters. The official report by the Russian Ministry of Defense confirms the completion of the mop up operations in the town and on its outskirts. Russian positions near Novoselovka Pervaya were secured and the town turned into Russian stronghold from where Russian forces are already launching attacks on new Ukrainian military positions.
According to preliminary reports by Ukrainian military sources, Russian assault groups entered the village of Mezhevoe located southwest of Novoselovka Pervaya. Russian forces broke through Ukrainian defense and gained a foothold on the northern outskirts of the village. In total, over the past day, Russian forces advanced on a wide front of about 2,5 kilometers to up to 1 km deep into Ukrainian defense west of Novoselovka Pervaya.

The garrison of the Armed Forces of Ukraine deployed in Mezhevoe and other small villages nearby are unlikely to hold their defense for a long time. They are already threatened by rapid Russian advance on the western flank.
After the Russian army took control of the strategically important Ukrainian stronghold in the village of Progress almost without a fighting, it does not stop advancing in different directions.
The village of Volchye located to the south is already under the full Russian control. The Russian troops advanced along the railway and they are already storming another important stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Zhelannoe.

At the same time, Russian artillery is already pounding Ukrainian military positions in the village of Ivanovka located nearby. The assault on the village is likely to begin in the coming days.
