As of October 24, the Russian Armed Forces have been pressuring units of the Kyiv regime along almost entire contact line in the region of Donbass. The most intense fighting is ongoing around Kurakhovo and Selidovo. Additionally, over the past days forces of the Kyiv regime have suffered tactical setbacks in some other areas.
In particular on October 23, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the liberation of the villages of Nikolaevka and Serebryanka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. On the same day, Russian units carried out several attacks in the direction of Kovsharovka from Kislovka in the area of Kupyansk. They also developed momentum around Petrovka in the countryside of Toretsk.

Regarding the main area of the clashes, on October 24, Russian troops were developing their recent success in the town of Selidovo. The Russian Armed Forces already control a part of the urban area and are increasing pressure on the flanks. Clashes were especially hard for the Kyiv regime in the area of Vishnevoye. The loss of this village will make the situation for the Selidovo group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces critical. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to stop the Russian advance there with all their resources.
In Selidovo itself, the core of the defense is created around the 15th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. The Russian Armed Forces are combining pressure from the east and encirclement of the town. Some Russian sources claim that this reminds the Ugledar scenario, when Kyiv’s forces had to retreat from the town under the threat of encirclement without lengthy battles.
In the Kurakhovo direction, the Russians carried out an airstrike on a military target in the village of Rozliv. The target was an agricultural enterprise located west of Kurakhovo. Its hangars were used to hide Leopard 2A4 battle tanks in service with the 33rd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The strike also provoked a local detonation of ammunition, which was inside the hangars along with the equipment. According to reports, several Leopard 2A4 tanks were destroyed and damaged.

Kurakhovo and its surroundings play a key role in the defense system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this area. The main supply routes of the Ukrainian forces pass through this area, which makes it an important target for Russian strikes on rear infrastructure, such as ammunition depots, repair bases and deployment points. In the recent days, the Russian Armed Forces were working to consolidate their progress and create conditions for further offensive.
The relatively same situation could be observed around the important town of Gornyak located northeast of Kurakhovo.
On October 24, the Russian Defense Ministry released a detailed statement describing the progress of the special military operation:
