Dead Ukrainian servicemen abandoned on military positions west of Grodovka in the Pokrovsk direction
The Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot stop advance of the Russian army in the Donbass. In August, Russian forces took control of about 430 square kilometers and retreated only from the area of less than 12 km on Ukrainian frontlines.
The largest area of about 240 km came under Russian control in the Pokrovsk direction. On September 2, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed control of the village of Skuchnoe located on the northern shore of the Karlov water reservoir. In fact, the settlement was captured by the Russian military about a week ago but the Russian Ministry always officially confirms control of the settlements a little later after the end of the mop up operations.

On the evening of September 1, reports from the frontlines claimed Russian control of the villages of Dolinovka and Lesovka on the southern flank of the Pokrovsk direction. According to preliminary reports, the assault began in the town of Ukrainsk and its northern part came under Russian control. After the village of Galitsinovka came under Russian control, in an attempt to avoid encirclement from the north, the Armed Forces of Ukraine began withdrawal from the field areas west of Nevelskoe and Netailovo south of the Karlov reservoir.
At the same time, the Russian army continues advance in the town of Selidovo, one of the main Ukrainian strongholds in the region. Over the past day, Russian forces took control of the area of the local city hospital.
Pokrovsk on August 31:
The Russian army expanded its zone of control west of Novogrodovka. According to preliminary reports, the village of Lusovka came under Russian control. This is an important stronghold in front of the strategically important highway between Pokrovsk and Selidovo.
Russian artillery and aircraft are pounding the Ukrainian military hiding in Mirnograd, preparing for the main stage of the upcoming assault. Amid the ongoing Russian advance on the outskirts, Ukrainian stronghold in the town is likely to be surrounded in the nearest future.

The Russian army does not stop advance in the Toretsk urban agglomeration. According to the latest reports, Russian forces managed to take control of the settlement called Miner located southwest of Kirovo (Pivnichnoe) on the outskirts of Toretsk. Meanwhile, the Russian military is pounding Ukrainian positions in the urban area, as well as roads of Ukrainian military supplies, with barrel and rocket artillery, as well as bombers of the Aerospace Forces.

Russian advance continues in the southern Ugledar direction. After the strategically important road from Mariinka to Ugledar was cut off, the Russian military launched offensive operations in order to surround the garrison of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Ugledar from several sides.
Russian forces broke through Ukrainian defense and launched assault on one of main Ukrainian strongholds in the direction deployed on the Pivdennodonbaska 1 coal mine.
At the same time, battles reportedly began in the village of Prechistovka located west of Ugledar. Ukrainian defense was weakened in the area after Ukrainian military command withdrew forces of the 72nd separate mechanised brigade from Ugledar to the Pokrovsk direction.
Thus, Ukrainian defense is crumbling all over Donbass.
