Government forces were able to link up the Deir Ezzor Airbase and the government-held area north of the Panorama Army Base, according to reports. However, this still has to be confirmed.

Military Situation In Deir Ezzor On February 2, 2017 (Map Update)
In order for Deir Ezzor to be safe that whole ISIS controlled sailiant aimed at that tiny corridor needs to be taken and secured. In order for Deir Ezzor to be really safe the entire SAA has to start pushing east on a broad front.
A broad front would be best but would take time. Does the city, and its civilians, have that time.
The defenders of the civilized world (Syria) are facing the forces of Barbarism (the Daesh) at Deir-ez-Zor. A lot depends on lifting this siege.
