after the pocketing of SW Aleppo, the next logical target is Maarrat Al Numan, further attack west would allow a creation of a southern pocket, trapping substantial jihadi forces in Khan Shaykhun, Morek, Lataminah, Murak. This would reduce the Idlib region to the border sliver that it is.

These maps are good to get an overall idea of the situation on the ground, but they of course say nothing about unit positions and numbers. Idlib has always seemed to me like it may be an extremely difficult area to clear of terrorists, so I’ve been surprised by the progress of the SAA so far. Here’s hoping it continues, and that it sends every jihadi and his Obama moderate rebel brother to the grave, or into Turkey, tail between legs.
At the moment as SAA needs to focus on even smaller area, at the moment around Idlib area, there can be 70% of his all forces. (which means propably 100K+, that’s why the rapid progress)
The SAA numbers is like about 335K , they have many tribals and militias in the region along with the Army and special forces Maj. Gen Suheil Hassan says all forces are Tiger Forces and are seen as such any not giving their best planning and fighting will have him to deal with. That is why they fight like 100K plus, that’s because they are all Tigers!!
Why Erdogan attacks now? It’s not because of US, it’s because of Assad. If SAA reaches the border, than Erdogan is officially invading Syria. To SAA at the moment it’s crystal clear, that takes some weeks and can go to the border area. They propably leave Idlib at last. Strategically, when the pocket has been captured, they might need to save the border area first. If Turkey has more time, nobody will be able to kick out from Syria. The map suggest me, that the biggest army of SAA is at north. SAA needs to be aware that they can handle the kurds in one country, but what area Turkey swallows will be very hard to get back. (It’s like Krimea)
The Syrian Government still has a lot of way to go, until it worries about Turkey. 1/3 of the country is still in the hands of the Kurds, who right now are backed by the US with money, political support and weaponry. While Turkey only controls a very small part of the country. So, it will be extremely difficult for the Syrian Government to claim those huge lands back. This should be your worry…
Just note this and very well. Syrian integrity already agreed by Russia, Iran and Turkey and nothing else . To say Assad is powerless to prevent partition is unrealistic.
Iran alone can ensure that as the main ground forces are the Iranians …no one else.
Meanwhile all parties can fantasize they can capture Assyrian and keep…. Get his heads examined.
US has no means to fight Iran unless they declare full scale war which only dummies vthink will happen…. Not for a few Kurds and against International laws
Now let Turkey fight Kurds while US for certainty will just look on…
Why do you think it would be difficult when Turkey is a blatant terrorist supporter, looks as the west has plans of partitioning Turkey, US has stashed Gulen on base in Germany. They see Syria will win and need another regime change plan to start in Turkey not sure if Iran will help them this time with the names.
The US will sell out all their proxies in the long run.
I have a feeling the deal has been done! Turkey will be granted Afrin and it will become a part of turkey. this will enable them more control of the Kurdish populations! These pockets are also a problem for Assad because we all know that there will be a war between SDF and SAA in the future!
Remember there are no such thing as “allies” only nations with common interests. It is now a great interest to both syria and Turkey to take care of the Kurdish problem sooner than later! Syria will still act as allies but im sure they will allow the turks to attack afrin! I also think the turks will eventually attack Manbij also because they always said they would push them back to the east of the Euphrates.
I wouldn’t be surprised if these attacks are all done when the SAA, IRGC, Hezbollah and Iraq are ready to attack Raqqa.Im sure the US is preparing for this also. We can be sure there will be a second proxy war and the reason why turkey is stalling is because they are probably waiting for the SAA to complete their idlib operation!

the Heavy flame thrower systems and the new krasnopol’s are making a huge difference! This is likely why HTS is desperate to shoot down Russian drones because they are the laser pointers for the krqasnopol artillery which are pin point accurate and have a range of 70km. very cheap to destroy targets.
Id say this is speeding things up greatly.

Im suprised isis has the ferocity to continue fighting. There is no way for them to do anything. They have lost. Most of the truly ferocious and motivated members are dead. What is left must be thugs looking to profit somehow.
If you understand that “ISIS” is a complete fraud and nothing more than Mossad and CIA agents and mercenaries, then you can understand why they have the “ferocity to continue fighting”…
We can only hope that the SAA closes the gaps and traps those scoundrels in that eastern pocket and then annihilates them…
So jihadist fanatics seeking martyrdom to achieve their caliphate don’t have the “ferocity to continue fighting” but Mossad and CIA agents and mercenaries fighting for money do? It is just me or does your theory make no sense at all?
That´s why you should try to understand your enemy…how he thinks, what he believes and why…untill then, you will always be ignorant and sufer the consequences. And the first step is a honest analyze…wishfull thinking won`t do and that´s why people blinded by ideology and prejeduces will always hav a disadvantage.
isint ssa afraid it might get backstabed form isis?

The actions by ISIS are pretty weird. Maybe it isn’t ISIS and are the jihadis trolled by fake ISIS commanders from the SAA to suicide on other jihadis.
Morten, this kind of BS is not passing here. If you really mean what you’re posting here (not just trolling) than watch this: https://youtu.be/Fn4tBelsh6c
It’s rubbish. The religious belief is just a private deal. Islamistic ideology is currently extremistic only because islam is too young, and when it will become mature – it will become wiser.
Valery… How old are you to claim that Islam is young? On the other hand, do you want me to present you with modern but extrimistic froms of Christianity?
Official religions are nothing more than an instrument of governing as soon as there’s a mediator between God and its children – us.
Actually ISIS is Saudi Arabia and Saudia Arabia owns the USA. . . . . Saudi Arabia pulls the strings and the USA jumps. That’s what you need to get your head around,
12 Saudi;s, with a Saudi funded leader, fly aircraft into downtown NY kill 3,000 people and the USA attacks and destroys Saudi Arabia’s one real secular enemy?
You have to be blind and stupid not to see who is pulling the strings here.
It’s all about money and bribes. . . . you pay top dollar you get to control the US government.
The only problem with the pilots was that they were the worst students, seems like other hands guided them as those maneuvers were done by experienced pilots or CGI, take your pick.

It looks like the SAA has reached an agreement with the local ISIS faction there, they (ISIS) are free to sweep through the HTS-held area, maybe the whole way to Idlib. It may sound a bit perverted, but overall it’s a funny strategy, let the one evil faction clean the pathway to the stronghold of the other evil faction.

I suspect that the ISIS commanders in Idlib are in fact Syrian Intelligence agents. If this is true, then bravo Syria.
Way beyond the SAA intelligence as these are mercenaries and ISIS has always been that at the top, they are desperate to get into Idlib near the Turks. They want to get all their sleeper cells all together and be a threat to the Turks and move into Turkey to cause another regime change event.
after the pocketing of SW Aleppo, the next logical target is Maarrat Al Numan, further attack west would allow a creation of a southern pocket, trapping substantial jihadi forces in Khan Shaykhun, Morek, Lataminah, Murak. This would reduce the Idlib region to the border sliver that it is.

I treat the maps as illustrations; we’d need a larger scale relief map to get an idea of the tactical situation..
idlib is much easier to progress in because of it’s nature..if you control a mountain you rapidly recapture all of the towns around it
At the moment as SAA needs to focus on even smaller area, at the moment around Idlib area, there can be 70% of his all forces. (which means propably 100K+, that’s why the rapid progress)

Erdogan is mad because he did not achieve his evil plans in Syria and nobody listens to him ?

Just don’t trust the advance of ISIS they are further south on the military map seen others that place them further south, wish they would fix it.

Almost everything near enough.

You really need to get up to speed on what ISIS really is… ISIS = US!
ISIS is mujahedins that has gone full jihad, they only do what Muhammed did and commanded.

Islam has an age of less than 14 centuries now. Just remember the behaviour of christians in 1388 a.d.
I disagree, ISIS is a jihad franchise. They are probably autonomous and go to the highest bidder. I very much doubt that they value loyalty much.
Too sophisticated to be the truth.
