This map provides a look at the progress of the ongoing operation of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies in the area of Abu al-Duhur. Government forces are advancing on positions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) south of Abu al-Duhur.
Once TF and allies capture Abu Duhur AB and its town they will connect with South Aleppo front and this will create very big pocket.Once the pocket is cleared this will shorten the frontline. Then they will probably move along M5 highway opening another supply route for Aleppo
Maybe they will let ISIS clear the pocket for them? I think by now its clear that the SAA is currently giving zero fucks as to what ISIS is doing there, as long as they only take territory from Al Nusra.
It would do well though to take some territory West of Aleppo as well, to put some distance between that city and Jihadis eager to unleash some rockets on it.
