A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:
- Government forces launched a military operation to recapture the Charkh district of Logar province from the Taliban;
- Authorities claim that the army conducted a successful operation against the Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group in the Momandara district of Nangarhar province. Several miltiants were arrested and their weapo cache was seized;
- According to pro-Taliban sources, over 20 government fighters defected to the group in the Aliabad district of Kunduz province, the Arghanj Khwa district of Badakhshan province, and the Ahmad Khel district of Paktika province;
- The Taliban claimed that 19 government fighters surrendered to its forces in the Parachi area of the Jwand district, Baghdis province.
