Taliban losses in combat have been very minimal. The only somewhat large casualties were after the futile indiscriminate bombing around Kandahar last week. It is generally believed and borne by ground evidence that around 300 Taliban and Pakistani special force advisors have been killed and about 500 wounded. This is a small price to pay for capturing 70%-80% of the country as the ANA has simply fled the field or deserted.

Over last twenty years Afghanistan saga has revealed both the false ideology of US Neo-Cons and the physical limits of US power. But equally, the US was far from home in central Asia and needed foreign support, and so they fed vast sums into Pakistan, as an erstwhile ally. Only it was quickly apparent the Pakistani’s were taking the money and playing both sides of the pitch, as they maintained intelligence links to Taliban and allowed safe refuge and recruitment into Taliban forces throughout the period. There is no other way to describe this than as a comprehensive US failure.
US and western militaries in general are incompetent mercenary armies recruited from the drug addicted dregs of failed violent societies that have no respect for humanity and their political “leaders” are even more corrupt and racist. They see wars like a football game with “quick victory” and indiscriminately kill civilians by massive bombing of women and children in “shock and awe”, which is counter productive and makes more enemies. In the last century they were overtly racist and looked at the Asians in Korea and Vietnam as not “martial enough” but soon found out different.
In the case of Iraq and Afghanistan recently, the US which is officially the most ignorant braggart in history, totally misjudged the situation on the ground and its defeat was certain. The mass war crimes that US, Australia and NATO war criminals committed in the tribal Afghan and Iraqi societies ensured determined resistance against the invaders. US military is corrupt and not really a fighting force. They are much more suited for Hollywood type propaganda projection.
Ghazni another ancient city of various Afghan and Persian ruling clans is about to fall in the next day or two. It is now generally believed that the Taliban and Pakistanis are aiming for a 911 victory in Kabul to show utter US defeat and humiliation. The fall of Ghazni in the Pashtun heartland close to the Durand Line will have long term strategic implications. The puppet ANA is now being squeezed into a tightening belt around Kabul which itself has been infiltrated. There are reports that Ashraf Ghani is about to flee the country,
