A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:
- The Taliban claimed that its forces had seized a checkpoint in the Sangin district, Helmand province. 6 government troops were killed;
- A Taliban infiltrator reportedly killed 4 soldiers in the Gerishk district, Helmand province;
- Taliban units killed 7 soldiers and wounded 3 others in the Khas Balkh district of Balkh province;
- 49 military personnel of the Kabul government defected to the Taliban in the province of Balkh, the group announced;
- The Taliban ambushed a convoy of government forces near Kabul city killing at least 7 soldiers.
