A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:
- At least 6 Taliban members, including 2 field commanders, were killed and 3 others were injured in a clash with security forces in Faryab province on March 3, local officials claimed;
- On March 4, Acting Defense Minister Assadullah Khalid said that the Taliban attack on the 215 Maiwand Corps base in the province of Helmand was plotted on the other side of the Durand Line, referring to Pakistan. He said that 26 government troops were killed in the attack. Earlier reports suggested that from 40 to 50 troops were killed.
