Military Situation In Afghanistan On May 12, 2019 (Map Update)

• 1,000 new recruits joined the ranks of the Afghan National Army under the 207 Zafar Corps in Herat province;
• The Taliban claimed that a US service member and 5 “local commandos” were killed, and 12 others, including 3 US service members, were wounded in the Chahar Darah district of Kunduz province;
• 2 civilians were reportedly killed in a US strike in the Shalgar district, Ghazni province;
• A civilian was reportedly killed as a result of actions of pro-Kabul and US forces in the Syed Abad district in Wardak province.
