A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:
- At least three civilians were killed in an IED near the Laghman prison in Mehtarlam city on May 2 morning;
- The Afghan Ministry of Defense said on May 1 that at least 15 Taliban fighters were killed in recent clashes in Logar province;
- Authorities claimed that 5 government troops and 15 Taliban members were killed in clashes in the Zare district of Balkh province;
- The Taliban released 52 prisoners in Kunduz province as a part of the ceasefire deal with the US.
