It appears all the major towns are in still in us puppet -gov hands . So why are we told that the Taliban are winning? Is most of the population living in the Taliban land? The roads? The agricultural products?
they are said to be winning because after a decade of fighting they still exist. The allies never won. they have just suppressed them in minor areas but ‘recent’ counterattack had the results seen on the map. The US wants to bail out. there is no way they can win this. Afghanistan is a lost cause. they try negotiations just to avoid another ‘fall of Saigon’

maybe thats their last hope. to have a permanent base somewhere in the region. But whatever the deal will be they will not survive being surrounded by Taliban. maybe they will rely on ISIS for their security. to keep the balance
Control is a relative thing – half of the red/green areas are still arguably contested. For comparison, here’s the areas in Afghanistan the UK government says Brits should not travel to at all (= Taliban will kidnap or kill you). I would guess that coincides pretty well with the areas the CIA has lost control of the poppy fields, too. Heroin prices going up this summer, Europe.
