- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford said that the US is planning to keep presence in Afghanistan as long as the “insurgency” continues;
- At least 15 people were wounded and 2 Taliban members were killed in the May 8 Taliban attack on the building of the International Counterpart in Kabul;
- The Red Cross is planning to resume its work in Afghainstan after negotiations with the Taliban.
