A brief overview of the recent developments:

• At least 9 pro-government fighters were killed in a Taliban attack on the Nusai district of Badakhshan province;
• 9 children were killed in an IED explosion in the Darqad district of Tahar province;
• 7 people were killed in IED explosions in Paktika province;
• 16 government troops defected to the Taliban in Faryab province, the group reported.
